I have this emglo compressor that I got from Mike Mike and I think it was from Arie before him..
It almost got me the other day...
I want to put some kind of switch on it because it pulls so much when I plug it in that it Sparks almost every time...
Here's a picture of the electrical box on it, I opened it up to change the cord that got damaged when it almost got me. I took this picture, no idea if it helps or if anyone can make a suggestion without actually seeing it..

yup, it draws a bunch. I never metered it but it's got to be all of 15a sometimes.
20a rated light switch, and keep a spare?

Don’t run it off an extension cord. Make sure it’s plugged into a 20a outlet. And, as MikeMike said, use a 20a switch.
High-draw stuff like this should be using high quality and properly sized parts.

120V? If so, single pole.
