well mikes search for vintage Jeep wheels get me thinking..
I always wanted a set of turbine wheels on the MJ..
pulled the trigger today..
2" spacer lift installed
tune up done etc...
looking for the correct bench seat and carpet and headliner now...
-
well looks like this 26 year old east coast beater has a bit more brake issues that first thought...
awaiting the laundry list of needed parts after its went through a throughout inspection this morning..
Plans are still a keeper… with body work and paint eventually…
First want to get it mechanically perfect, and locate all interior parts..
Smike.. wanna try your hand at body work.. I’m stopping by custom truck this week in the MJ to see about a paint quote…
For what’s it’s worth I would rather you do the body work.. his guy it a bit of a perfectionist and well.. it’s a 26 yr old truck.. I don’t need perfection.. just good.
Wheels came in today also…
Getting them sent out to get refinished…

-
thats cool.
-

I'll see how the ones I got look, probably next week when it comes out of the garage again.
-
got my old bench back from Erik...
I think I'm going to work with this one and get it recovered...

New 3" Rancho front coils and LCA.. new rear shocks.. need to find full 3" spring packs now...
off to M4
-
SCORE...!!!!
saw these on eBay this morning..
still a valid MOPAR number.. they are $109 ea. from the dealer.. even with my discount that’s a hefty sum of money..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261099925827?item=261099925827&viewitem=&vxp=mtr
-
i just threw 4 of those out off the stocker wheels from my XJ hopefully not worth as much being newer a little different type
-
you had turbine wheels on your XJ?
those are the center caps for those specific wheels.. they dont fit anything else...
-
not sure they were jeep center caps :-\
-
M4 on fire last night...

-
Smike.. how is your hand @ body work?
-
this thing is in not so great shape lol
-
this thing is in not so great shape lol
Can you elaborate?
I know what I know... let me know what you think... ;)
-
smike.. how hard would it be to remove the bed?
I have some ideas brewing....
but I want to hear your honest assessment of the vehicle condition first...
-
it was a shame, the one i pulled the motor out of was the best condition of all three. should have moved a title trans and front axle to that one.
Also, im not sure the new springs lifted it at all, it may have lowered it. The old springs like like soft ride dual rate 2", with 2" blocks. new springs are 3"?
starter motor likes to stick on
lots of rust and dings on just about every pannel, its a jeep meh?
the lift, shocks and arms are in. Didnt get to the PITA brake line that blew.

Emotional attachment to this truck…. Before the floor repair I had very little in that truck…
Also, im not sure the new springs lifted it at all, it may have lowered it. The old springs like like soft ride dual rate 2", with 2" blocks. new springs are 3"?
the old springs were Moog cargo coils I threw in there bc the old stock springs were just shot...
can always add a spacer if need be.. I have the new tires mounted.. prob mock one up later this week..
was never really looking for height.. just a more aggressive stance..
starter motor likes to stick on
ehh... youre talking to me remember.. Brake booster and MC will also need to get swapped out..
lots of rust and dings on just about every pannel, its a jeep meh?
need a new front fender for certain.. but agreed...
the lift, shocks and arms are in. Didnt get to the PITA brake line that blew.
Thanks.. ill try and swing the tires over just to get them on and get the old ones out...
Ill check later this week on rear spring status...

I don’t know if I posted this ever anywhere... but here is the brief history of my MJ..
1986 2.5L TBI
4 speed
4wd
Long Bed.
Bought it for $287 on Shelter Island about 8 years ago.. (this is when I was in my saving for a engagement ring phase..)
wasn’t running due to a Fuel pump..
had AAA tow it for free >100 Miles to my now wife’s college house in Uniondale NY..
Had AAA tow it again for free >100 Miles to my house in Woodbridge CT
bought a FP, got it running.. emptied it out and found a Jaguar hood ornament.. sold on eBay for $250
rebuilt motor receipt with only ~20K on it..
used this MJ as a beater and gave it to my dad a few years ago when I moved up to Rochester..
the floor were beat from being on an Island .. had a local shop (CT) cut them out and that’s where the project died..
My dad went and bought another MJ and this one sat in the backyard for a little over a year..
this MJ has been like the giving tree..
it’s the only vehicle I own that I don’t have a dime into in the long run..
it was the dumpster when my parents remodeled, my delivery & pickup truck when I owned my first business, it taught my wife how to drive stick, and I have zero repair dollars into it..
(well minus the floor.. but that’s neither here or there)
-
Wheels refinished, sneakers mounted...
-
Lurve the turbines!
-
Very nice. They do look sharp
-
got a new starter and Brake Booster and MC in today.. was actually in stock in Richmond...
-
All i can think of when i hear turbine wheels is a fox body mustang. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/28/8ehegequ.jpg)
-
2MJ's on site at M4 now.
-
those wheels are going to look way to good for that thing lol
-
yeah.. like im not going to paint it and drive a pile..
got to work from the ground up
-
haha
-
any more thoughts on this, whats the eta on the rear springs?
what else we have to do? pulled her in the shop again last night.
-
sorry just sat down to the computer today...
I need to check with Hell Creek.. I had to have ordered them a couple weeks ago..
-
wheels on... still the stock rear springs with extended shackles... Hell Creek springs on backorder..
thanks for the photo update smike..
-
Smike you could swap the washer jets if you're bored.....
-
ha. never bored at m4- shop clean and reorg- first night no customer work- 572
forgot about that on the shelf
-
you wiper arms have been bushmechanic'd id get new ones
changed out your squirters, the replacement JY cowel white didnt match.
good to go.
-
prob looking at a month before the springs are in...
Need to get with Larry and see about some body work in the meantime.. need to keep this rolling or it will stall out...
-
id leave the springs, they look fine. probably 100 other placed to get springs from also :0
how about rebuilding the foam on the driver side of the bench :o
-
i actually find the seat comfortable for the first time in a few years....
very few people make 3" MJ lift springs.... that are of decent quality....
-
smike.. when you were under there did you happen to see a gear ratio tag?
-
nope. thought most 4cyl jeep things are 4.10s
-
possibly not 4 spd....
I was told different this AM..
-
Smike...
I should have springs for you shortly...
Went with option "B"
If you get a chance in the next day or so to check the gear ratio I would appreciate it.... Need to check baseline before I jump in the deep..
-
Springs should be in Wednesday... no rush on my end.. I know you have chassis work going on..
also getting new Ubolts...
Any luck with the gear ratio? Still looking into rear axle options.
-
ill try to look tonight.
-
springs came in...
SMike will the U bolts i gave you work on this rear end?
-
i am failing on this, i will really try to look tonight ha,
-
It's ok.. No rush really...
I'm bringing the springs down to south tomorrow... Just so they are in your neck of the woods when ready...
I got a full HC kit. front and rear shocks as well... I'm going to stick with the rancho shocks and rancho front coils for now....
-
3.54 gears......
4.10 would be a nice kick in the pants....
-
Amazing...
Whenever I'm not looking there are always rear ends all over the place.... Now, can't even find on ebay
-
Ubolts came in...
-
Cool, did the brake parts make it over to south also, only the springs present when I picked them up Friday.
-
Yeah.. Went down Friday as well... Hope there not being stupid
-
looks good, all new springs.
rear shocks on the way,
I noticed there is a front steering stabilizer in the pile, you want that on if it fits?
-
No... its yours if you want it..
I ordered the only SS worth a shit for this and the XJ....
belt and shocks on the way down..
-
there any lift time available this weekend to peek under an Eagle to look at the trans mount and 4x4 linkage? Milage keeps going down too, wonder if I should test pipe it. there were some honeycomb pieces in the muffler.
-
the tunable Profender unit i put on Anthony's JK was pretty sweet.
Lift should be open later tonight or tomorrow night. Saturday ill be in buffalo (saturday night?), Sunday i think the lift needs to come out again to work on a superduty for couple hours.
-
saturday night probably best for me, Ill try and remember to bother you then to see when you'll be back. thanks
-
I have sold a few of those stabilizers. Everyone loves them. I have had 3 people call me to say how much better the jeep drives after putting it on.
Also the one with the spring gets excellent reviews.
-
I'm a OME guy.... Swear by them....
-
rear shocks in, i think this kid is all set this round
-
rides like a dream...
plenty of power in all gears, need to adjust speedo so I can see how fast im actually going....
Brake booster, SS, new starter going in Monday...
-
ran it through a carwash yesterday and found that the driver door is sagging a bit....
might need some new door hinges... YAY :o
-
washer trick will fix that
-
yeah i thought about that... ordered some shims so i dont need to pull the bolts all the way out...
this is my DD for 10 days...
-
10 days??
-
Wife's LR hit a rock
-
LRs should be able to hit a rock, no? Offroad machines!
-
sorry.. Land Rovers yes.. Range Rovers no....
an offroad machine yes, a pimped out ride no....
-
Might need to throw some coil issolators on this thing..
Road vibration and level out the front end..
Will measure and order some poly units..
The 2" ones I donated might be to tall..
-
4.11 8.8 potentially found...
will need to re gear the front
-
8.8 on the way....
Where can I order axle perches?
-

-
ryan..
whats your price on this and can you pull the trigger?
no diff cover... not needed yet..
-
Smike..
you still have the other springs right?
might need to do a flip flop on them and need to get new isolators...

-
looks sweet...
4.10s will be some get up and go on this guy.
will need to regear the front... M4 style will be fine for the amount the truck will go into 4wd.
have you ever swapped hinges on an XJ/MJ?
Im debating doing that next or just have the body guy do it with the paintwork...
-
swapped hinges?
for newer doors?
-
no i got NOS ones that bolt on like the original
-
This guy is all set
8.8 swap 100%
Front coil isolators installed
Perfect lift match on both ends now.
-
if you have time to do the MM and Trans Mounts you would be a doll and I would owe you lets say a case of your choice lager..
-
aw crap, its covered in snow now :(
dont worry about beer, i have plenty of parts needed haha
-
no rush... still in Miami....
and the beer is a general thank you.. parts are here as always..
-
1.375 spacers ordered for the rear and .375 for the front to even it all out....
I got the true 7/8 ford 8.8 spacers for the YJ....
-
wheel spacers on way down to south....
-
pulled in last night to thaw out. Will get to it after monster trucks!
-
yeah yeah.. monster trucks...
wish the show times were earlier.. I would LOVE to take the little one.
-
the sunday show is early
-
What time is the Sunday show?
-
right in the middle of Nap.... already checked that out...
-
Abby fell asleep at the first one she went to when she was about 3 or 4
-
Sunday pit party 11-1, doors for show at 1, show starts at at 2.
-
sway bar links also coming down to south today...
-
perfect-
motor and trans mounts, and links- anything else to finish this guy tonight?
-
wheel spacers as well..
front are sandwich, rears are bolt on...
I ordered some new front hinges and a fender.... maybe take a peek and see if they are the bolt on or weld in...
I think thats it for this guy... Scottys has to do some coolant hose work.. didnt want to bother you with a drain and fill, not worth the hassle IMO..
-
thanks, keep in mind summer cooling work is appreciated- need the weed killer for the shop :)
-
sway bar links are done
trans and engine mounts are done
rear wheel spacers red lock tited on
fronts need longer studs
looks sick, id leave it.
-
aside from being mathematically perfect I have a bit of rubbing when at full lock... perhaps the isolators fixed that?? I know the .375" spacers might not have cured it... but???
-
the rubbing is the inner side wall of the tires on the lower links.
you would need a lot less backspace to get away from that, or i could make the stops longer
-
how much less? are we talking about full 1" spacers?
-
ohh.. and again.. not a right now deal... but whats a good R&P set to order for this guy and do I need a new carrier?
-
carier break is 3.73, so if it is numerically less than 3.73 you will need a carrier and install kit
or get a used 4.10 axle
-
i assume this hog has 3.55s now?
i have a 3.73+ carrier if needed. in my "D30 Fix" box. no use to me now :D
-
used stuff is way faster to put in with some thought.
-
carier break is 3.73, so if it is numerically less than 3.73 you will need a carrier and install kit
or get a used 4.10 axle
been looking... but for the amount of time its in 4wd i figued the re gear would be faster and cheaper...
I sunk tons of parts into that front end recently.. ball joints, u joinds, hubs, brakes etc...
I already have a Timken Master kit... just would need carrier and gears...
dunno.. still looking for an easy swap option as well..
-
i just ment used axle to pull the gear set out of, not swap the axle...
much easier to tweak a pattern in a different housing than start from fresh with all new parts.
Also, if you want new studs pressed in for the spacers, we should do that at the same time.
-
got it... so buy a used gear carrier and gear set...
-
this guy can get picked up right?
Need to throw away some counter tops this weekend...
Might swap the MJ for the XJ so I dont have to get a ride and perhaps a new sensor for the FI and winch install if you dont mind easy stuff..
I can bring down with your parts and fluids..
-
sure. you have an extra key or no?
-
or just shoot me a txt i can meet. going to eat now
-
no ... but wont be till tomorrow... so we can stash it...
-
o got it
ill try to meet you, a lot of fun stuff in the shop to look at right now :)
-
whats your day like today
-
how did this machine perform this weekend?
-
thing was humming along great this weekend...
runs and drives great.. need to swap out the hoses and O2 sensor..
noticed a slight noise in gear.. seems to be coming form the trans... unsure if it just started or??
always been looking for a AX5/231 anyway... ;)
-
used 4.10 gearset, carrier and spiders in the mail....
new driver fender and door hinges arrived..
-
got the new gearset for this guy....
waiting to hear about body and paint before any more work is done...
-
possibly drop this guy off to button it up...
need to throw in the new gear set and possibly swap hinges on the front door if your feeling up to it...
-
gear set shouldnt be a problem- have the shim kit for it? i think my Dana30 stuff is beyond gone.
whats the door hinge problem? they usually suck and snap off
-
I have a timken rebuild kit i keep on the shelf in my garage.. should have everything..
wont the shims be reused from the old one?
I got a set of NOS door hinges.. they are sagging and I dont get a good seal...
caused me to tweak the front fender.. that I also have a new one for..
-
need a few shims to do it 95% of a 1000$ gear install in 15 minutes once tore down, or i can throw it in as is and it will be noisy and most likely fail pinion bearings down the road.
-
you know more than me... gears scare me..
it is in a truck that will only see 4wd if it gets stuck or I need to drive a pickup in the winter...
-
if you have the install kit throw it in- i will only use a few shims from it if needed and send it back. i might have what i need. i have been tearing down scrap axles and just keeping the parts on the shelf since Bill and I always need them it seems.
-
i dont care either way... rather do it correct once...
-
is the MJ outside?
-
yes
-
i have it.... west hen bandits didnt steal..
-
Cant even begin to count how many times I have thrown metal, parts, wood, stone, etc into this truck...
ive even hit the glass a few times.... guess this one was the lucky shot...

-
that’s sweet... but I have made a resolution to only by exorbitant amounts of CJ parts without knowing what I will end up doing with them..
in a bidding war right now for probably the rarest Jeep stock transmission that I have absolutely no use for at the current moment..
just must have it
-
have any time to take a gander at this guy this week?
I should be picking up my trailer today (finally)
-
my ankle is tore up pretty bad, i have to see how it goes this week. hobbled in to work today, i dont see me being useful in the shop this week unfortunatly

-
Probably should have someone look at that...
I would agree,a 10y/o I know stubbed his toe,it got infected and started to spread up his leg,bad stuff
-
Holy shit smike, thats a LOT of bruising. You probably should make sure nothing in there is torn.
-
Zombie foot!!!!
-
Do you have a spare tailgate? awesome project, would look great in a garage full of jeeps like yours.

-

im in no rush.. still havent heard back from painter as to time frame..
-
if your not in a rush, lets hold off a little more.
-
no prob..
-
October 7th I’m scheduled for paint..
Need M4 to get bumpers and header panel off before…. (header panel due to fragility of studs)
I wanted to get the underside of the truck checked structurally (bumper mounts and uniframe) the spare tire winch removed and possibly a coat of Chassis/undercoat..
Ill prob have some other misc stripping to do afterwards as well… bead liner, mirrors etc..
-
dropping this guy off in the next couple hours on trailer...
leaving at 11... and its almost 8 as I type this...
Love rushing
-
coming around 4 for MJ... hopefully missing rain..
-

hopefully i can bust out of here in the next 30 min
-

-
Trailer was at mikes... Had no way to transport....
Swing by tomorrow..
-

-
Ill be at carter first thing in the am...
-

-
I saw it stripped down this morning, gonna be a sharp unit!
-
spent an hour of hooky this morning before a meeting taking apart tailgate and rear lamps.. other misc things..
dropped off on way to work @ Hahn retiree / old body guy who did the work and will paint it...
appoint made at upholstery shop for later in oct when their work slows down..
need to figure out bumpers...
front will be easy.. just need to find something I like..
MJ rear bumpers are a bit harder..
can M4 do some DIY work?
http://www.jcroffroad.com/product/XJB/DIY-MJ-R.html
need to get some new bumper attachments.. the ones on the car are a bit rusty crusty.
-
sure looks good.
-
bumpers ordered for the MJ...
Got the rear DIY bumper from JCR...
no other good option...
bare metal on both.. unsure about powder coat/paint as of yet... want to see the truck dressed...
-
Eds cage and bumpers turned out awesome with black hammered over chassis coat.
easy and seamless to touch up rock rash.
-
guy doing my MJ is so anal its annoying...
the truck will have better paint than it did when it rolled off the factory line..
stopped by today for another one of the consultations he requests... I think he just wants reassurance hes doing a good job and im going t pay him. ;D

JCR DIY rear bumper just came in today..
Smike.. do you think you need the truck or you can prob tac together from the plans given?
-
better to have truck, to make sure everything is aligned and straight
-
Is this a painter that is workign as a side business? I have a Mustang that I need stripped, fixed, and painted.
Can you send me his number?
-
I think this might be the last big project he does...
He's all about little things he can turn quickly.
The guys at the Canandaigua airport do side jobs I hear
-
front bumper arrived today... bare steel...
want to see the truck first before I decide how to finish..
-
Finally got over to m4...
Bumper work and possibly fender flares...
-
Just ordered....
http://www.napierprecisionproducts.com/main.sc (http://www.napierprecisionproducts.com/main.sc)
Couldn’t find a decent set of used.. aside from that the front flares extend down to the valance, which I won’t be having anymore..

-
thanks Smike...
might want to see if I can pick up bumper today so they can be coated this week...

-
need to know soon. truck will be stored in a trailer in one hour
-
then yes... i can be down there before 12
wow indoor storage too....
-
unless you want to grab it?
i hate having new paint around.... lol
ill pull the bumper regardless
-
hopefully I can get the bumpers turned around fast and it will save the trip...
if you want leave it outside till I get down.. I have no aversion to new paint..
-
Nice job
-
smike.. best way to grind down welds..... flap disks??
-
Awww you arent going to leave the sexy welds!
-
i kinda want to.... but the front bumper is smooth...
I think I might just do the flats on the top and sides so it blends with the body...
leave the horizontal ones...
-
have a set of flres heading down as well..
thought you might take a look at them as well ;)
-
when are the bumpers coming back?
-
going to try and get an answer on that..
-
its cozy in the little trailer which i probably wont need until march
-
noticed your rear LED trailer light got smashed when the trailer was parked :o
figured the only light i did not mad max you find!
SRT8 must not care
-
i knew you would like that...
I respect your space... did want the trailer all up in your shit...
when I need to be careful I am.. when M4 work needs to be tested.. bring it on!
-
bumper eta update?
-
in my garage.....
didn't know if you were busy or sick, or both....
plus I just got them the other day... ;)
-
is this something that can be on the docket for this week?
-
busy week but send them over, will be this week or Feb 17th
1/2 day today catching up on sick time (delphi holiday today) and then Matt and i going to metal surplus.
should be back at shop by 3 ish.
front is bolt on or needs chassis fab?
Havent looked at flare installs - shouldn't be too bad. you sure love giving me the chance to F up your new paint lol
-
everything bolt on at this point.. same front bumper as the XJ....
Ill see you guys at 3ish..
-
Cool
Have any batteries for me by chance?
-
working on them..
trying to find stock..
-
rear bumper got installed.
Front bumber plates mounted to frame. When you slide on the bumper to bolt up to plates, it hits OE finders with about -2" that would need to be cut off. No real way this can be screwed up. Plates are directional side to side and right side in. One bolts to the steering box holes.
Fender flares are pretty wide and dont really match the truck. Like i said we should look at it before we start hacking metal out to make them fit.
-
I got a set of clean stock ones coming....
I trust when you say a lot of metal.. I thought I would be able to get away with it... But I'm not running 35"s
Front bumper is a head scratcher...
Bottom of fender is flush with header panel... Bumper should rest right bellow..
Same bumper as the XJ...
-
The manche you posted from RC looks to have a similar bumper... bottom of fender mounts flush with the header panel..
-
i know you just got back.. of you get a chance can you drop flares off at south..
swapping out for new ones......
-
will drop tomorrow morning after getting caught up tonight. shop is burried in snow haha
id like to finish this guy up this week/weekend.
Have a CJ5 coming in next week for hopefully the last round!
-
dropped this morning. Might want to call to make sure it heads the right direction. I got a half blank stare from someone i didn't recognize and the place was hopping / busy morning phones ringing haha.
-
ill check tomorrow.. just got home from NJ..
-
new used flares should be mine by tuesday
-
week crank and dead- no fire. had to push out of trailer and swap battery. no big deal.
-
looks like I need a new battery now too :)
-
maybe. it wasnt dead dead, so i threw it on the charger. looks like a new delco
-
yeah I’m sure it is/was
we’ll see...
flares got delayed due to awesome winter weather…
-
fresh flares arrived....
-
send em over, i can pick up today or tomorrow. MJ is actually in the shop right now
what is the decision with the front bumper? put flares on, cut truck or cut bumper to fit?
-
i think i need to see whats going on...
that bumper should fit nice and snug under the fender line...
Same as this guy...
you think the mounting brackets might be wrong?
(http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee343/rejeep/XJ/Brighton-20121130-00032.jpg) (http://s534.photobucket.com/user/rejeep/media/XJ/Brighton-20121130-00032.jpg.html)
-
looks like a bunch of the flare and fender is cut off in the pic....
ill look at it again tonight or tomorrow and take pics.
brackets on fit one way and left to right is different to tie in to 2 steering box bolts.
-
flare deff cut...
i can swing by with the header panel.. maybe that will tell the whole story…
-
dropped header panel in ford.. I was out that way earlier…
-

-
mounted header last night
i guess just trim up the bottom of the bumper to fit?
hows the flares coming along?
-
flares deff @ south...
1 set of rears.. 2 sets of fronts..
does the bumper need to be trimmed or the fender?
-
oops missed that, ill grab them today then.
One or the other needs to be trimmed :)
id rather see the flares on, and then trim the bumper to fit the truck as that is removable.
-
got it..
bumper looks good... wouldn’t want to ruin it :) sheet metal is repairable...
XJ looked great as it was mounted... I forgot the PO had an ARB bumper on there.. fenders must have been trimmed...
stock XJ/MJ front end have the flares extending bellow the bumper turning into an air damn that runs the length of the bumper.
Don’t need all the crap…
(http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee343/rejeep/MJ_zps7c4da6fc.png) (http://s534.photobucket.com/user/rejeep/media/MJ_zps7c4da6fc.png.html)
-
front header panel installed
stock flares installed
Front fenders and flares cut to fit front bumper
looks great.
-
MJ picked up and stashed at carter..
Going to work on assembly this week... Would like to have it back on the road shortly..
-
Header panel installed
forgot 1 headlight bucket so stalled there.
side vents sanded, painted and installed
side mirrors put back on.

Almost time for you to buy a enclosed trailer to avoid the awesome salt bath on the fresh painted jeeps
-
That would require me to get a truck that could tow it, and I don't tow enough to warrant..
I'll be driving this truck year round... Salt is enevidable.
-
A small aluminum enclosed wouldn't be to bad to tow
-
that sucker is pretty!
-
Yes it is.
Nice work
-
those are sweet bumpers and flares someone put on
-
nicely done! I like the bumpers.
-
Expertly done..
The rear bumper is real nice how it protects the rear corner from bellow..
Stock flares were the way to go.. not on big enough tires to justify all the trimming that would have been needed.
Working on refinishing some of the plastic right now before it goes on the truck..
Would like to be driving it this time next week to hopefully be picking up some cleaned up CJ sheet metal.
Need the truck as well to drop off tub for spary..
-
a little throwback on the MJ.
(http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee343/rejeep/1986%20MJ/assembly/IMG_00000984_zps67693206.jpg) (http://s534.photobucket.com/user/rejeep/media/1986%20MJ/assembly/IMG_00000984_zps67693206.jpg.html)
-
Thats great.
-
At first glance I thought it was on a Dyno.
-
Looks mint!
-
@ scotty's on trailer for inspection
-
new window seals installed...
headliner ripped out, trim on the way...
-
Last original part failed...
Need a new fuel tank :(
-
new tank installed... needs new PS pressure line and this thing is leak free for now..
-
for this truck...
would I measure for a driveshaft with a load in the bed or at 90% normal empty?
-
Driveshaft companies will want a measurement of center of u-joints, at rest, normal ride height.
-
TO DO:
Attacking vacuum lines this week on this beast...
rough idle is starting to get to me..
amazing how dry and cracked the 30 year old rubber is..
Vibration at speed I am willing to attribute to the rear driveshaft..
unsure if there is a good way to check this..
if I recall.. when the 8.8 went in the DS was either too short or too long.. measuring tonight
Interior needs to be done.. Too many family members are borrowing and I like having lendable vehicles..
bed tie down... need to figure something out.. not having these made the bellow happen
dent in box.. yeah after fresh paint a rouge ratchet strap had it out for the bed side..
-
my "never needs anything" truck needs something...
amazing how many stalls I had today while driving in the city.
had to ride the clutch in first to get it underway.. and even with that I stalled more times than my wife learning how to drive stick..
hard starts (long cranks) were the result..
parked at office awaiting some interweb diagnostic...
could it be the clutch is just shot? of course with the renix, for all I know its a ground issue somewhere.
-
sounded great when you pulled away from the shop today
-
Happened 1-2 times on way down...
Got progressively worse drive through city...
Comanche board hints fuel issues...
-
thought last night while in bed is I'm out of gas....
ran ok with weight in the bed... once the weight was out, started stalling on acceleration.. (tank slosh)
ran ok on hwy.. (no tank slosh)
going to limp it down Main Street to fill up
-
no functional fuel gauge? ??? ;D
-
Perfectly functional.... Either arm was bent on install or sock broke loose and I'm missing the bottom 1/4-1/2 of fuel. Put 21 gal in. Runs perfect. 25 gal tank I think...
-
Daily status this week has prompted me to finally address driveline vibration issue..
Spoke with Vic today and will be taking some preliminary angle and length measurements for a new rear driveshaft...
Laundry list of "others"
need NYS inspection
no heat, but engine running fine
horn
fluid change all around
-
somebody please talk me in or out of doing a heater core on this truck..
-
says right in the title: it's a keeper. keepers need heat!
-
"keep" it out of the salt though
-
been using the heat in the international for at least 3 weeks now lol not too much longer till it gets put away.
