wonder 4.0
delivered to M4 for 700$
disapointed tires are miss matched and pretty junk, but over all still a good deal. lots of hacks.
tonight on the lift, i got 3 out of 4 fenders cut out tucked, and trimed, new front lift coils and shocks before a test drive around the block.
shifts and goes ok, something is slamming like hell in the rear on the littlest bumps its got to be broken sezied rear shocks or the tank flapping around. interior pretty good, most of the body rot will be cut off with the normal xj trims
driving to work tomorrow!
-
pics?
-
Sweet ride that im regretting not buying
-
oh boy...
-
triming, new coils / shocks up front.
-
reaplaced rear brakes hardline
finished fender trims
rear slamming is 3" lift leafs with stock shocks :o
-
Nice!

front end tore up and 4 ball joints removed.
took less than 4 minutes to remove crusty ass seized in ball joints. i love this tool every time i get to use it.
-
I should bring my 3500 over and use that instead of trying to do them by hand! I've been dreading that.
-
have a party with Matt, his needs it too this week
it literally will bring joy to your face. it took me two days to do my 24valve with the shit C tools, they suck.
-
for the top ball joints, do you find that it will push straight if you leave the tapered shank on it? or do you chop that off and use a piece of toob?
-
for removal? i cut the taper off, then stick in a flange nut that pushes on the body
-
just sold the tires and wheels off this unit for 300$ win
-
ball joints, unit bearings, ujoints and front axle back together
exhaust, rear brakes and front tie rods next , then fluid leaks and CEL investigation.
what a wonder!
gota mount up another set of SCRs ordered wheel spacers, still need rear shocks.
-
want to get a set of rancho?
I can order for you.. I think Monroe even makes a lifted variety
-
i have new fronts installed i had that are good. need the rears, 3-4" lift over stock id guess. they are eye lower, barpin/eye uppers. i can order from summit if you cant get.
Next i need:
exhaust down pipe
exhaust tail pipe
left and right rear wheel cylinders (8.25" with 9" brakes)
left and right rear e brake cables
the exhaust manifold is F'd on this thing someone spooged this grey stuff all over it, its cracked, hacked flange clamps, no idea how to start.... bah
should be it until i read the codes!
-
I still have a (repaired) 1998(?) TJ manifold hanging in my shop, if it will work. Would like to see it put to use before I get tired of looking at it and scrap it.
-
really hoping i can just clean it up and make it work. i have another one on and engine sitting in the shop too.
-
Dorman makes a manifold for it... 2 in stock
-
ill let it scream before i change a header buried in and engine bay on a 248K motor lol
-
picked up shocks tonight
slid little shoes on and put aside for some Rover work!
-
rear shocks installed
most of exhaust torched out
gas tank straps reaplaced
trim double sided tape gunk, and black over spray removed
masked and rebedlined two tone black
mounted 35 scrs on another set of mustang wheels
-
ordered an adjustable track bar and new track bar bracket. bah
-
full exhaust installed last night. had to do some interesting things to mate to the abortion of spooge on the header collector.
Adjustable track bar and new drop track bar bracket installed. actually got the bolts out and reused them. couldn't get any of the junkyard ones to budge.
-
extended sway bar links / swaybar installed
new oil pressure sensor installed
-
heat doors and a radio was nice today on the trail!
sweet machine. needs rear brakes and full brake bleed, and some leaks and power steering whine addressed. otherwise wonder status
-
Sweet

craton (sp?) called us out and FB and asked to remove photo. I would have told him why doesn't he fucking look at matts sponsorship request first asshole
-
What in the world can they have to say about secondhand tires? Or any tires for that matter. Wierd.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
who knows he was a douchbag to me at RCQ in 2009, why would he change
-
what pic is he talking about?
-
short course tires on my XJ. they are not DOT and are race program only buys
-
down with blown front passenger brake hard line
-
brake line changed and bled out.
-
logged first buffalo trip sunday no issues
lots of CELs currently
-
picked up a new front wiper motor assembly, and rear wiper arm today. yea! for working wipers all around again. no delay as before when wipers went to slow to no go. Must be a multi switch assembly issue. no squirt on rear- looks also like a funky switch issue.
Swaped the purge solenoid with a yard part to try and start working on CELs. probably will need to drop the tank and put in a new sender first.
-
I have a 00 XJ I'm parting and scrapping next week. Lmk if you need anything from it for free
-
trans code probably NSS and purge circuit.
New 02s in and some unibody / floor fixing done tonight.
-
http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neutral-safety-switch-nss/
gona try this. i guess its on the opposite side of the trans than where the cable hooks too. ha i didnt look on that side
man the steering leaks are getting annoying too. might be time to throw some lines at it or something.
-
just buy one on ebay ,think i got mine $40, you will never get the old one off in 1 peice
-
http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neutral-safety-switch-nss/
Mine was bad enough for long enough while I was in college that the split second jolts the starter would get trying to find the sweet spot in the shifter cracked the flex plate... Or at least the two happened coincidentally, and neither have happened again. But anyway, cleaned and greased and has been good since. Also fixed inop reverse lights as well.
Hannah's is weird sometimes but it started to break while I was taking it off so I left it.
-
everything on the jeep works 100%, never had one single NSS problem. I am just trying to fix the transmission code that is sending the ECM to post a CEL.
i did noticed if you KEY on, put the trans in N, clear the CEL, start in N, then it will drive park reverse N with out any CEL, and will only reappear if you shut down then restart in either N or P.
changed the Purge solenoid with a JY one and no diff. going to try cleaning the contacts and or inspecting the wires
-
what code are you getting?
-
always P0700 and got it to give P0705 once or twice.
-
since all my functions work, ill try adjustment first- then cleaning, then replacement.
-
not the same code i was getting. after quick searches everything leads to "the p700 code is a generic trans code which needs a DRBIII scan to give you exact details " .it may not even be the nss
-
as what my research showed, untill i got the 705 code.... and the fact the code doesnt appear if you start in N as apposed to P, after a CEL clear with Key on
-
almost thought i was going to have to report the first SCR road service failure! ridding dirty back from the city the other day- rear driver was pretty flat when i got back to the shop. miles from comming apart im sure.
turned out was a rotten or cut valve stem. changed out and back in business
no effort on NSS codes or fuel sending unit change yet.
-
unit seized up something, belt hasnt blown off yet but no alternator, no water pump, no PS, squeeling and over heating past work commute.
patting my self on the back for packing, fueling, food shopping ahead of time so i can just let this thing sit and think about what it has done instead of unhooking a trailer to run around the day i am leaving out of town.
-
installed new water pump, stat, two hoses, new JY efan installed, coolant flush, fluids topped off- back to 100% status
more than usual shimmy in the steering wheel at test drive- must have pissed something off in the column universals or box driving it around for a couple days with no power steering assist.....
-
PS leak finally got bad enough to identify source. grabbed both hoses on the way home- snapped the nipple off the back of the plastic reservoir
F
-
burn it down
-
removed and cleaned NSW. no change good or bad.
purge solenoid tests good, connector dissasembled and good. no change.
-
ordered a new NSS off ebay for 44$ shipped.
-
Also picked up Pet's old 33's from his TJ thats gone now. Had to break down them all, clean beads out, new valve stems, and remount to fix leak down issues- but all good now. little noisy compared to the SCR's that i put 7K miles on but should wear in a bit. i think he put mostly trail miles on them and im sure they 5-10 years old lol. price was right.
-
Seems more reasonable :)
How did the SCRs wear?
Tapatalking in traffic
-
they were new, after 7K there are at 50-60% some flat spots started to show on the front. they are completely hand mounted and not balanced at all. no complaints at 80mph on 90.
ordered a set of from yukon chromo shafts and this thing will be getting some lockers, skids, sliders, and bumpers soon. why not.
-
I dig it. Should be able to get all of that back out of it upon sale no problem.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
probably not but its treated me well enough so far.
havent been able to sell it as a 3K jeep as it is which i think is fair for the work done to it. Sliders will take care of the last exposed rot.
i doubt it will magically become a 4500$ jeep but im still only in 1500 ish or less as it sits.
-
buffalo trip today and tires have quieted down after 150 miles.
good to go.

new neutral saftey switch installed. full function (same as old) verified for starting in P and N, no where else. no backup lights still. Still gives Trans code and Range sense code.
bench tested purge solenoid for proper resistance and function. Verified continuity from purge solenoid plug to ecm pin- ok. no power on other side of purge plug with ig on or off.
found fuse missing in kick panel that supports backup lights, purge solenoid, o2 circuits. put fuse in.
now have power to purge, backup lights work for first time since owner ship.
multiple code clears, still have same 3 codes for trans malfunction, range select malfunction, purge sol circuit error.
purge solenoid feels like its trying to softly kick, but no where near the bench testing click.
suspect ECM driver bad.
no idea on trans codes.
Replaced fuel sending / pump module. fuel gage works so far.
-
could the trans code actually be a t-case code? I've been wondering to myself what the hell a range switch could be in a trans but I'm reasonably sure the transfer case has a switch to tell the PCM high or low range.
just another thought
-
front end torn down. hosed gear set found after 1/2 cup of gear oil drained. bottom of diff looked like anti seize. awesome.
Steve mason had a gear set that matched since my parts wall did not provide.
new gears installed, chromo shafts installed, aussie locker installed.
rear next!
-
update
CEL has been off for a few days on its own, but still has the same 3 codes when you scan it. what a terrible system. going to run a tank though it with normal driving and see if the purge code goes away.
all emmisions monitors are set that show available with torque.
still suspect ECM driver for purge code, and i have no further action to trouble shoot trans codes.
morning long crank issue gone with new sender unit / pump.
-
front bumper fab'd up looks good
rear bumper removed and fab' started. out o steel

I'll check and see if it'll work for rocker panels/rock sliders.
-
SOLD and gone
bye!

It was a good jeep. time to start on another. Tom that helped trail cut at Attica and came to the picnic bought it so its not far.
Thinking of a ZJ build, but open. found a really nice clean 96 XJ for good price.
-
Definitely need some suspension loving
-
ha! putting the front locker and chromo shafts to work already!
-
nice!
-
Front long side inner shaft twisted noticed when I was digging through jeep parts. They're USA standard or Yukon shafts?
-
yukons
