picked this up a week ago, 2 door 4.0 xj 185xxx miles ,lots of rust and so on for $800. picked it up to drive around town and cruise
-
rockers are pretty much non existent so worked on driver side 1st
-
driver side window didnt work so picked up a new motor and all is good now.interior is pretty clean, auto everything, cc, overhead console this thing is loaded though the a/c has to be fixed
-
Any plans for lift and tires?
-
no not really, my momma is coming to visit for a few months and wont have a car so its for her to get around in as well when shes here and not have to climb into my truck at all. so no mods planned until she leaves
-
logged 780 miles on this pig this weekend from home-rausch-philly-home, same trip with my truck was $250 in gas this beaut only cost $110 pretty excited this thing is KOH road trip ready
-
imagine what a car would be
-
this thing is so annoying lately
slow random inconsistent leaks in all 4 tires
all guages dont work till inside is warmed up then randomly work
1 in 20 starts require in neutral
hood latch pull handle broke, and while ive had the kick panel off i was sitting drinking coffee i heard what sounded like air leaking but noticed smoke coming from a connector to what idk, disconnected and ignored
driver side speakers not working
it has though made 2 more trips to philly with no issues
-
sounds like typical wonder, move a long
-
Lol
It is a JEEP!
-
fuck this thing in the ass with a sharp stick.
add to the list crack in windsheild grew about 2 ft
randomly stalls in reverse
tonight it died on 104 just outside medley center, would crank and start but die, thought simple and maybe out of gas. thankfully a girlfriend was about to stop by my house and in the neighborhood and came and picked me up,. grabbed my truck a strap, some gas and jumper cables since the battery died. towed it to target to work on it but still wouldnt run, ended up towing it home with this poor girl driving it , battery died on it again she had no lights or wipers with the snow. got home went to the store came back and didnt want to leave the battery dead so charged it up and cranked it for shits and gigs and fired right up. google says symptoms of bad cps
-
Burn it and buy something good.
-
took the dash apart to fool around with the instrument panel, everything seems fine, put it back together and everything but gas was working, did a diagnostic check which ran fine turned the key off then on , then nothing working :o

This is one sweet machine!
-
fixed, maybe?
took it to the store a week or so ago to see what would happen, ran fine there died twice on way home but started right up to drive home. picked up a cps and a instrument panel at j&j, xj's are getting scarce there now. panel didnt work right ,may not of been compatible, from a 2000 mine is a 98. so i cleaned the contact points on mine and so far so good, guages work every time since. replaced the cps yesterday, started up and let it run it eventually died once warm and didnt start again, got it running this morning eventually but died, pulled the iac, dirty as hell ,cleaned it and has been running fine just driving around the block last 20 minutes with no issues and no cel. $50 to throw some plugs ,wires, cap and rotor at this thing may do it in a week
-
$150 and this thing has a shiny new windshield thanks to L&m auto glass, I use to work at a pizza shop with the owners years ago. Got some brake pads and a obd2 scanner should be here today and inspection ready
-
obd2 scanner tool doa ,will not connect to ecu's in jeep or truck or in multiple apps and i got torque pro
-
did you pair and set it up.... i remember there were some non intuitive boxes that needed to be checked the first time i got mine to work
-
everything is connected, the blue car icon keeps flashing and under the adapter staus page everything is green checked except the talk to ecu ok
-
this thing has plugged in and passed NY inspection before?
-
New pads and rotors on the front of this thing along with recycled shocks from Carter St abandoned xj, got my new ob2 scanner, finding codes for tyranny prnd which I'm guessing is bad nss, which I'll swap a spare I have in, airbag light is on but no code ill just pop the dash bulb out and she will be inspection ready
-
new battery and ebay nss unit, still throwing codes for nss and cps who knows why. worked this weekend cutting the rocker rot out and replacing, this unit has a 700 mile round trip planned this weekend
-
brought it in for a inspection today, failed, computer in not ready mode gotta drive it around a bit and have 10 days to bring it back
-
my code reader shows emissions monitor status for this. worth the 3$ to pay for the pro version of tork. failure to set emissions monitors will not throw a CEL but will not pass plug in.
-
i have the torque pro, where will it say it its emissions ready
-
it may be a custom field you have to add. its the 4th page on mine. emmissions readiness s/DTC
-
I'm guessing with all the empty values it's not ready yet?
-
thats different than mine. the ones that are activated for the model year ECM are a different color and say not ready. some or greyd out and not applicable for the year. depending on the year you are allowed so many not set. my 98 it was 1 allowed.
-
Different than what I’ve seen too. There should be something that differentiates those that apply from those that aren’t yet tested

normal driving for 5 minutes and expressway driving for 5 minutes will set all of them but the one canister test that needs the fuel tank to be between 1/4 and 3/4 to run. dont listen to the elaborate driving scemes people have posted on jeep forum.
-
Fresh blue sticker on this pig, still have them trouble at the shop had to keep unplugging and plugging in to get a response from the ecm
-
after a trip to j&j this thing now has locks that work with a key even on the hatch, no more getting locked out after the battery dies, speaking which warrantied a battery i bought in nov, and has a new hood release cable, almost cl ready
-
