fun truck!
home.
looks to have AC and heated mirrors, air ride seat. juice brakes.
]
goose and brake controller setup, winch hookups to truck battery.
pretty clean truck. not gona pull like a tuned cummins but it will get it done.
-
25K rear axle rating
11k front axle rating
started life as a 24' box truck
guy has two of them, its twin is at 560K
had recient king pins and service, drives and tracks straight, not a drop of oil i have found. looks like a small weepage leak on some sort of low pressure return line. Also an issue around the passenger front brake has some fluid on the tire.
tires are 22.5's rated for 6300lbs or so
cable e pinion brake.
50 gallon tank
fun to drive.
-
titled as a 2004 iter Van at 9820lbs
ID card in email from progress, ill see if i can get some plates on it tomorrow!
-
Beware the arm rest.....this little plastic thing is capable of removing arm hair like a damn waxing salon! (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/16/ryhamy8y.jpg)
-
if you need aftermarket or factory parts LMK.
-
Should be fun, cant wait to see it with the trailer hooked up.
-
gona research gages and tuners and such. im pretty sure tuners are a no no on this rigs, but a gage setup would be nice for boose and EGT ect
-
tuners absolutly... but might have to be dealer done..
-
They can be turned up, no doubt about it.
Bully Dog advertises such things; if it's not already there CAT could load a different program and bring it to its highest factory power level.
It's oil bath front hubs I'm sure, it's probably an inner hub seal that's oiling the wheel.
-
o i know they can be turned up, but not sure how the trans will like it.
thing shifts up and down like a machine
-
Granny-shifting, not double-clutching like you should. You're lucky that 100-shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake.
Sorry it just came to me lol
-
It's fast AND furious? Lol
-
A freebie mod is to up the fuel pressure. Pull the doghouse in the cab, then pull the fitting on back of the head. Inside there's either a square drive(use a small EZ out) or some odd shape like a torx. Tighten it all the way in, then back off a half turn. Still within factory spec, but at the higher end. Should get you about 70-75 pounds. It'll help the responseiveness a wee bit. Even more if you do injectors
-
Start with asking a dealer for a reflash(re-rate) on the computer.
-
strike one at the DMV
FYI dealers should know they cant set to a private buyer with out running though there business. Lady was nice, but 2 hours wasted and i need to go back to his dealer ship, FML
realized i have no receipt for 3000$ cash given towards "trailer"
-
All is well I think. Got plates from dealer, just need to get sticker next week. West hen pot holes throw big gulps out of the cup holder on matt!
-
is this yours?

-
ya picked it up wednesday with an 05' 38' wedge behind it
-
Matts experience to the mall food court yesterday tells me this thing is no passenger machine for a 4 hour ride lol
i like my seat haha
-
Keeps the riff raff out! 8)
-
Coworker did Virginia and back straight in ours. He was pleading for a second air ride seat after.

Solid seats SUCK

It can't be any worse than dbsr with the buckle jabbing you in the rib cage
-
I had no issues with that at all, it was fine on my side

Selfish bastard!
-
Needs susp seats and boat cup holder.
-
Crude and ac works.
Took a drive out to naples and back.
-
Lukas thought that monster was the bomb.
-
he's got good taste.
my dad is pretty impressed from pictures too, esp for the year.
-
pulled this guy to rauch and back friday/saturday
love it
Doesnt pull like a cummins and is no drag racer on the hills but i like it.
first 196miles i got 7.7mpg
on the way home from jeffs i bumped a new button on the shifter that lit up an ECON light on the dash- need to research.
-
found this guy has mismatched steers- similar tread and wear, is that an issue? lol
-
no more than it would be on anything else.
-
For what you're doing with it as long as the tread depth is close, don't worry about it.
-
called regional to quote Oil change on motor / trans and NYS inspection.
he is going to get back to me with the quote :-X
-
Vin says 195hp on this guy haha
should have a quote shortly for via email
ECM update if it will help
Oil filter and change
Trans filter and change
Fuel filter
NYS inspection
Guys seem cool at Regional.
-
First failure weeeee. Fuel filter burst with a pin hole. Not sure how much fuel I lost but made it home and noticed the spraying puddle.
-
stopped by regional to pick up a fuel filter and ask if they forgot about getting me a service quote....
636$ for trans / motor oil and filters and NYS inspect.
i found it kinda funny that the parts cost for the fuel filter was 32$ on the service quote, and at the parts window 10 steps over they handed me a filter for 12$.
i think ill take my business elsewhere.
-
they claim no dice on power flash without hard parts changing
-
There is always a mark-up on parts at a shop. Helps pad the bill...
-
but its the same place 3x cost lol
-
I'd ask them about it.
But then again I'd also not pay someone else to change my oil in most circumstances...
-
me too, but when you read about how to do it, and it says you are suposeto crank with sensors unplugged and such, meh
-
I think your too used to getting parts from Arie and doing work yourself. Higher prices on parts if your having work done is not out of the ordinary. That said towing company will not use them for business anymore for a reason.
-
that seems terrible business- parts counter says 12$ service counter says parts cost is 32$? thats hilarious
will ABS light fail NYS inspection?
-
we will NEVER take another truck to regional if we dont have to...
-
unfortunately, places that have actual usable hours for someone like me are of higher value. 6 days a week 7:30 am to midnight is really nice
-
its commercial hours...
if we need an oil chance on the truck cant do it at 9am...
-
As I said before decarolis is 24 hour which fits in with your constantly working lifestyle. I may have spelled it wrong though..
-
will ABS light fail NYS inspection?
ABS on will pass for passenger vehicle. i cant comment for commercial.
-
Diablo sport M1000 claims 50hp and 1-2 average economy for about 350$
Called Diablo and it was just discontinued but he said dealers still have them.
Called place one to verify engine / model specifics and got ummm dodge? powerstrike? uhhhh what motor? :o
-
new fuel filter in, filled and didnt hickup at all.
i think it has an electric lift pump, with a primary filter / separator, then a secondary filter (the one that blew) before the hight pressure pump driven off the timing gear case. high pressure pump says reman on it. injectors are burried under a guard of some sort. i dont see anywires. going to them must be pop injectors.
-
diablo power puck on the way- found it at summit, 50$ cheaper and instock!
309$ shipped!
-
4 tire burnouts?
-
no!
just hopping for a little more keep-up on hills. Even some of the little grades on i90 i was down to 55 from 63mph crusing.
.5 or 1mpg would be 10-20% fuel savings also lol
-
getting a solid 7.4mpg first 3 tanks towing.
-
no change with econo mode?
-
well you probably lost some of that tank huh?
-
I predict that this will be the reason it will be for sale soon. :o
-
I predict that this will be the reason it will be for sale soon. :o
Or running on WMO?? 8)
-
being an 04, its all electronic expensive stuff, no waste oil BS
nope, i like it :) my fuel stops and reach are about the same, i just have a 50gal tank instead of a 32 haha
-
Ill monkey with it and get some power and economy out of it, but i think for what i do the days of 12mpg pulling hills at 72 are not realistic for my weight class.
-
dropped at regional to get a sticker so dealer monkey guy can put paper work though in my name
-
7.5 gallons of oil procured last night
-
Failed DOT failed NYS
onlything that matters for NYS is they claim rear brake pads have some cracking- sounds like bs gona run over there and take the truck back regardless unless they quote like 150$ or less to do it.
time for big boy truck work!
-
You took it to regional....?
-
dealer guy called left voice looking for inspection number he is suposte to Fing do. i decided instead of having him stick a sticker on it why not have someone else look at the truck.
Pads on sale at regional Parts for 79.95
if service tells me 150$ in parts we are going to have some words and ill be done there.
He mentioned 3-4 things i knew about, belt squeek, wet return line, and chip in windshield that one or 2 of those fail DOT
NYS pads fail only.
-
service said 183 for parts, 538 installed. i walked to parts and for 86$ i walked out the door for rear pads.
They were FUCKED on both sides, and a seized slider on pass side. all fixed and swapped about 3hrs hard labor / learning. Broke my 3/4 ratchet with a 5' bar.
Thanks to Alex for subbing in to get it back together.
Truck dropped at Regional and he wanted to do it for me tonight but realized his liscence guy was gone for light duty. fine by me since the ZJ was left there earlier.
Good catch on regionals part on this one. truck stops 3x better than i thought was already awesome stopping.
-
another note- i need bigger tools. broke my 3/4 ratchet. Big boy socket set and 1" impact needed for this guy fawk.
-
Torque multiplier may be more useful. I kinda have been wanting one for a few things here and there.
The price for parts on the service side vs from the counter in the same building is insane.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
Never even tried to work on the BBB chassis just because of my lack of big tools. More power! 8)
-
using a 5' bar on a 3/4 ratchet is just not safe. gave my self some good whiplash a couple times before getting the technique down. Took all of alex and I to torque them back to ~500ft*lbs stated on the nuts
somthing like this i might try next 25% coupon!

That's what we used at my old work on all heavy equipments stuff. It works great but obviously will need have a big compressor and big hoses to feed that bad boy.
-
Definitely 1". That's the way to go. Sorry I missed your call smike, was that what you were calling on?
-
i was gona ask you if it was worth any type of rotation of the rear tires while i had them off. decided to put them back on the way they were.
-
Only if there's heel/toe (chopping) wear. If not, you're fine.
-
which nuts? brake brackets?
5' bar doesn't sound safe at any speed :)
-
lug nuts to break free required jumping on 5' bar
nuts say torque 450-500
-
Fawk!
Tapatalking in traffic

this guy has a go fast knob now that doesnt seem to make any dash lights.
not as much seat of the pants power as id hoped but def noticable. BUT i cant locate the MAP sensor, so i had to use the 03.5' harness that only taps the fuel pressure. no idea where the MAP sensor is, its majic. i also cant locate my radiator or intake manifold im really confused with this motor. Cummins seems soo much easier.
-
also- got a sticker they gave me a heavy duty sticker instead of a regular inspection sticker like it had ::)
cant find any info on a MAP sensor location for 03 or 04 WTF
-
wanna give my guy a call...
-
registered in my name finally lol
-
Progressive decided to cancle my insurance Fawk
-
What why?
-
unaceptable vehicle.
RV quote was 191$ for 12 months.
Phone Commercial quote is 750$ fawk
-
Unacceptable!
-
really awesome i get an email 6/29 that my insurance was canceled 6/24. Nothing in my snail mail about it either. tools
-
surprised there was no snail mail.
-
just put in for a quote with these guys:
http://www.explorerrv.com/medium-duty-truck-insurance/
they actually know what a MDT is for personal use. Apparently, it is illegal for me to lie and say it is a commercial vehical to get commercial insurance, and Progressive is wrong to insure it as such. Found some info of guys just like my platform and use, most of the places do not do NY though.

Becky at ExplorerRV has made contact! flanges crossed.

The class of license you need depends on the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of your truck, and on the GVWR of the
heaviest vehicle that you tow with your truck. The gross combination weight rating (GCWR) is the GVWR of the
tow truck, plus the GVWR of the vehicle being towed (see Diagram 1, Chapter 3, page 6). If the vehicle you tow has a
GVWR of over 10,000 pounds, and the gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of this vehicle and your tow truck is
more than 26,000 pounds, you need a Class A license with a tow truck endorsement ("W"). If the GCWR of your tow truck
and the towed vehicle does not exceed this weight limit, you will need at least a Non-CDL Class C license with a tow truck
endorsement ("W").
A car carrier can also be considered to be a tow truck. If you drive a car carrier with a GVWR of over 26,000 pounds, you
need at least a Class B license. If your car carrier has the ability to tow a vehicle of over 10,000 pounds GVWR behind
it, and the GCWR of your car carrier and this vehicle is more than 26,000 pounds, you need a Class A license.
Note: The requirement for an "R" endorsement (Class D or Class E license) to operate a recreational vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more remains in effect.
RecreationalVehicle or “R†endorsement-Recreational vehicles, with or without
air brakes, are not defined as commercial vehicles. You may apply for an “R endorsementfor yourClass D,Class E, or non-CDLClassCdriverlicense to allow
you to operate a recreational vehicle (RV) with a GrossVehicle WeightRating of over
26,000 lbs.(11,794 kg).An “R†endorsement also allows you to drive a rental vehicle
more than 40 feetin length forthe transportation of personal household goods.

not clear if R permits are applicable to GCWR 26+ not just GVWR
Explore RV wants 728/year meh
-
R permits are intended for big motorhomes. Idk if you can get one if the trailer is the RV as opposed to the power unit being the RV

Just out if curiosity why did you post the section about tow trucks? You don't have one....

-
A car carrier can also be considered to be a tow truck.
they use all these Fing terms and do not define them properlly
i was just collecting all the info that is remotely close to my situation.
i still see no clear option for non commercial over 26K
-
I know they don't define stuff well. I believe there is a section somewhere with every definition car carriers generally refer to the big trailers that hold lits of cars. A wedge may fall into that.

car carriers generally refer to
statements and inferences i am not impressed with! more engineering less liberal arts!
-
Different states define "car carrier" differently.
In Florida it's important because they have funny length laws, and if you have 4 cars on you're a car carrier regardless of trailer type.
By most other states, a car carrier is a stinger steered trailer. (WRONG. looking for right hitch name now. The low 5th wheel plate)
NYS DMV's use of terms without any reference to what the fuck they mean infuriates me. These are great examples. So is their use of "commercial" - do they mean a CMV, or an s10 with "commercial" plates?
Fuck you, NYS.
-
well shit maybe "stinger steered" is the right term - but now I'm seeing it applied elsewhere. BAH!

Just run it until you get a ticket then you will know and can inform everyone on here of the true law.
-
Just run it until you get a ticket then you will know and can inform everyone on here of what that officer decided the law was that day for you.
fixed.
Assuming you're intending to be legal and making an effort to be such, you need to have the damn code printed out and with you so you can defend yourself roadside before it turns into a ticket. If you talk to a DOT inspector or trooper about the specifics of these fine lines they probably don't know it off the top of their head and probably have a different interpretation depending on the day of the week. This even happens with clear-cut stuff.
I'm just glad we don't have weigh stations out here to have to deal with.
-
not on the law topic, but other recent discussion
possibly as useful as a 1" impact in some circumstances: torque multipliers
http://www.vannattabros.com/saw48.html
-
I'm just glad we don't have weigh stations out here to have to deal with.
I have been driving to Binghamton and back for work for the last 3 months.
I have seen DOT every week just outside of Owego. They make everything with a trailer stop.

Yeah they've been 490 west by thruway a lot lately in the AM

i would shoot my self if i had to deal with insurance people on a daily basis.
-
Becky at Explorrer RV is out of office today so i get a hold of her manager who informs me the quote she have me is incorrect, and that he must request an exception to the policy allowing to insure with out comp / collision. He gets back 2 hours later, request denied. 1400$ quote with 2500$ deductable HA! no thanks
i ran another RV policy on progressives site- all questions answered truthfully, personal use, non rental, non business of any sort, and used 30 days or less a year. 162$ a year, new cards printed.
guess i deal with this again if they cancel it in 2 months, and try again to fight the improper commercial insurance they want me to get.
-
insure with out comp / collision.
I know this is your style. But Do you get quotes for both? I looked at dropping collision on the jeep. Was going to save me 6$ every month or every 6mo (can't remember). No thanks.
-
i would shoot my self if i had to deal with insurance people on a daily basis.
yeah
-
take what you pay a year and multiply it by 7, add your collision deductible. if that's more than what the vehicle is worth to you, you are paying too much or you have accepted that you suck at driving.
-
Or you have accepted that other people suck at driving.

oil and filter changed tonight. it really does take 7.5 gallons to get on the stick lol also changed both serpentine belts, the squeak seems to have gone away.
forgot how fun this thing is to drive and go pick up a pizza hahaha

cant seem to find any info on converting to air cab
just get two of these and replace the rear cab mounts, hook up to seat pump lol

meh, it will be fine loaded better.
truck shopping anyway, need more ass if im only getting 6-7mpg anyway

sounds good to me!
-
title came today. weird fast. must be because it was a "dealer" buy
looked at rear cab mounts. they are super tight and not like the big trucks i have seen. would take some fab work and removal of a crossmember to get some bags in there. 2 in the rear and whatever in the front.

driving my dodge makes me miss a power petal 8)
-
on the search for insurance again for this guy.
send out to a few places, actually discovered Gieco does Commercial, has a drop down choice for "personal use heavy truck" and new what an international 4300 was. didnt give an online quote but i should get an email or call.
-
Definitely a step in the right direction.
-
$1015 from Gieco, fawk
-
I pay 1400 something for my dump truck and that's for commercial use
-
id like to not pay that for a truck that i use once or twice a month
-
this insurance crap is about as F'd up as the DMV. Every place i call tells me i "must" do this or that. crazy.
1.5 months ago when progressive called me and canceled my "rV " policy, i played the game and gave all info to a commercial rep. gave me 758$ for a year quote. RV quote was 162ish fine.
I tried a local agent yesterday who just gave me a commercial quote for 1600$ and required me to give her my trailer information- claiming that for commercial libility you must included the trailer on the policy. personal auto, its included with the truck, not so with com. bah. she didnt care that i have 4 trailers, and only gave here one trailers info- seems fishy
re insured as an RV take that
-
o by the way the local agent works through progressive also-
-
Libility / PIP / Addl PIP / OBEL /MEDpay only 75$ for trailer though, i think i just need to call back progressive do the 758 quote but have them add all my trailers to be full legit.
-
i had to meet with my insurance guy about potential work and i picked his brain about your situation,i told him what your trying to do as getting it insured as a rv with living quarters and bathroom. he says you may be able to get around it for some time but once insurance sees a vin# doesnt come up as a rv theyll drop it or once you make a claim and see its not a real rv,toilet or not youll be in trouble.only way is to get a homemade title but then no one wants to insure a home made trailer.
-
not exactly what i want to do.
want to insure my truck not as Commercial because its not used for COMMERCE
-
I bought some fuel filters on Filterbarn that were supposed to cross to 12v application but don't. They are an International part number:
1816246C1
Don't suppose they'd be any use to you?
-
are they gallon paint can size?
-
Ha no. Guess not
-
gota figure out whats up with the "water in fuel" light
there is a pet cock on some secondary filter, but it feels as though its going to snap off if i turn it any harder.
-
those are usually plastic threads in either plastic or aluminum, in a fuel bath. they don't tend to seize up. I'd check availability on the housing/filter as applicable and go to town on it. hopefully it's just a sticky o-ring
-
ryan and i looked at it last night, as i reached for the pet cock a wire broke off so i am thinking that was my problem. reefed on it a little bit and got it to turn and glug glug, was clean fuel no water.
going to fix in daylight today.
-
yay broken wires! my backup lights were the same issue - was 18# of coiled wire from the delete zip tied off to 2 18ga wires that had broken once before and weren't repaired properly. cold soldered to the nubs sticking out the back of the plug. Glad it was clean fuel and not actual water. Considering I think we use lots of the same fuel stops that coulda been worrisome. Mine was dry when I swapped the filter a month or so ago
-
i suspected it was wire or sensor because i would tow for hours, then when it rained it with blink and flash. the last two tow trips its been solid on lol
-
looks like water in fuel light stayed of from 30min into start of trip, through return trip. so im going call that fixed
Brake line failure was weird. Some bitch in a honda decided to try and hit the side of me while not yielding to her on ramp in sing lane. i pump brakes hard to not hit her.
30 min later, upon exiting my ramp, 3 pumps to get any brakes, notice no electric assit humm and foot goes to floor slowly. drove home. used hand brake to stop a little twice
2' puddle below ABS / Electric assist thinggy. looks like removal of tool box will be easy access to top of module where leak appears. looks like 6 or so lines all pretty cruddy going into the top of this thing.
bah.
-
took longer to R&R tool box than it did to fix brake line. all 1/4" stuff, had to get some goofy fittings since there is 4 sizes used on the abs module. just cut the rusted part out and patched in a new part.
line was for passenger front, no go on cracking bleeders, so with a little enginuity, she is back and firm brakes. parts to fix again in the truck since some of the other lines are not looking so good.
rear lines new from bob job, front would require 2 new calipers, flex lines, and hard lines. probably near 1000$ that will be tackled another day.
-
i can get you the parts wholesale
-
whats a new HVAC blower motor go for
-
this guy friday night decided to crank and not fire
dash light said "coolant level", and check "electrical system" sometimes
Google said low coolant (usually caused by leaking EGR cooler) will inhibit engine run.
coolant level fine, so i ran to international and got a 33$ coolant level sensor that snapped in no tools, and still no fire.
Took mikes truck saturday.
Return sunday, 4300 started on first crank no lights.
:/
-
Time for Cummins power!!! :)
-
gotta love random issues!
-
i gave chad a blank check and the truck for TBD he said no.
a 300hp 12v, 6, 9, 13 speed, air ride, for like under 10k in a month or so im game.
-
want me to put in a call to regional for you?
-
new surge tank level sensor and ECM reset seems to have cured all problems, probably a dozen cold starts and 6 usage trips with miles since.
-
no start again.
RandR coolant sensor
over fill coolant
pull ecm clean power fuses
clean all battery connections
check both fire wall ground posts (only online suspect noted)- mine are factory seam sealed outside, factory clean and tight inside
no crank
note- intermittent power to gage cluster while cranking- never noticed this before.
go back to shop 2 hours later to drop off something, crank for hell of it, cranks first start.
-
Time for old school no electronics
-
Must be contagious.
Drove the f350 to Binghamton and back saturday. Stopped a few times on the way back. Parked in my driveway overnight. No crank next morning and still as of last night.
Check engine light came on right before we left for Binghamton.
Starter connections look real ugly but too cold to monkey w as of sunday.
First time she has ever left me stranded.
Might be time to get traded in.
-
o mine cranks and cranks like a summer day with 3 batteries. the ecm just says no thank you with no warning lights whatsoever.
-
wonder if the ECM is saying "no thanks" or if it's something on the lift or injection pump that it's not delivering fuel?
just thinking out loud....
-
No good
-
the two google searches mostly say its a clean power issue to the ECM. if there was a fuel pressure issue or injection issue it would throw a code and light. I did check fuel pressure after crank, tons spraying out of lift side shrader though.
when you key on the gages full swing and all lights go on and off. when you crank, its almost like it tries to do the gage test multiple times, leading me to believe there is loss of power or ground to the dash/ECM
biggest forum solution is take both ground studs apart and clean, check chassis to cab ground, eliminate 2 sets of weather pack connections in the battery box, check battery connections.

redoing gauge test definitely sounds like intermittent or dirty power to ECM.
Could it be something at they key, losing power on ign while in crank position? wild hare idea, other connections much more likely
-
fired on first crank tonight
hauled local load like a boss
::)
-
That explains the white truck pulling the black enclosed north on 15 as I was heading south to M4.
-
ya must have just missed you
-
spit and kicked on 2 or 3 for a good 10 seconds and then took off fine today for an hour warm up.

7.5 gallons of oil changed, oil filter, two fuel filters changed on this guy.
noticed one inner fender is black and one is white lol :o
-
talked to insurance. they were helpful and faxed (who still faxes?!?!) documents i need to take to DMV and did not cancel my current policy (yet). Now have documentation that shows coverage through sum of 4 policies with a 9 day lapse of coverage in June 2013.
Registration was suspended for this lapse and has been suspended since August 4th 2013.
i was cited for
unregistered motor vehicle
uninsured motor vehicle (BS, its insured, just had a 9 day lapse)
i had no paper work for trailer (with wrong but vailid main plate, trailer not titled to me, but no marks or tags bah), she didnt seem to car about the trailer with two buggies on it.
all in all its a 3$ a day fine, and some running around and a court date- but i did learn what info is avail to trooper when plate is run. good printout she gave me.
Edit* running around getting all my documents was waste of time- sat at DMV for 40 minutes to pay 8$ per day, 72$ fine for 9 days of insurance lapse. they needed no documentation from me other than payment.
have piece of paper now that says suspension is terminated, and you only get the option of paying a fine once every 3 years! neat!
This system baffles me the gross waste of time and resources.
-
so Mark, typically would paying the civil penalty, and valid proof of insurance around the the 9 day lapse through current be grounds to dismiss the 2 citations or do i have to do more work / pay more?
-
If there was no lapse at all, I'd guess that they would dismiss everything. No telling what they'll do with yours.
-
mailed in not guilty, requested both supporting deps
-
also placed a copy of the registration suspension termination and current insurance. i guess a call to the clerk next week could help.
-
you'll get a court date, you go there, DA will give you some miniscule non moving violation, you say guilty, pay and move on
-
I had the same situation. They suspended my license for failing to pay an out of state ticket (that I paid and had proof of) WITHOUT telling me.... >:(
Found out when insurance company went to renew my insurance. That was a nice phone call. "Hello Mr. Meyer, do you know you have been driving on a suspended license from .... and we can't renew your policy. WTF NYS
-
my registration was suspended 8/4/2013
i renewed my licence and did the enhanced thing 8/25/2013....
you think they could have mentioned that then?!?
-
I will have a permanent fix in place June 28.
-
The license department and the reg department don't link to each other. It's rediculous.
-
Wiring diagrams need to be procured.
I would shortcut fix it with 3 relays in the battery box. Fuse their outputs separately or just run em all off a ~30a self-reset. Trigger right left and run with the truck's wiring and just feed the trailer from the battery. At least you'd quit killing truck power from faults in trailer wiring.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
i think there is more going on. test would be to run trailer with matts truck, we dont seem to have issues there other than matts plug lock is worn / broken
-
see how this goes!
http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f33/04-international-4300-running-lights-issues-439521/#post3143337
-
Driver headlight bulb replaced, broken wire fixed 2 two otbulher lights out on that side, passenger tail bulb replaced, backup lamp replaced! Ready for nys inspect!
-
Sweet no more blackouts lol
-
It'll still blackout. Needs relays.
At least it will e all lit on its own now!
Tapatalking in traffic
-
Oh not broken wire related?
-
On every single trailer it ever tows? I guess maybe. Seems hypersensitive.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
would make more sense its the rigs problem if it happens with several trailers
-
my guess is there is two things going on.
a limit the truck has for trailer power- and broken freyed melted wires.
for the last year- it has gotten pissed with the kitchen hauler after 1 hour ( all non LED), and my black trailer has made it go dark once or twice (all LED except brake lights)
never had problems with wedge (all LED) until recently. found lots of wire issues on wedge.
3 relays should fix it easy when i get the time, but i think improvements have been made.
-
any chance of broken wire randomly shorting?
-
100% chance on wedge of frayed wires shorting. most of the wiring is jacketed and fine, but where it's stuffed in the tubes (which almost all of it is) and not jacketed it's wearing through. I found one really bad spot at one tail light but could not get the other three out on the side of 5&20 returning last weekend, and that was not the final issue.
-
i pulled all that apart in the back and fixed like 3 places. found a wire wich i believe to be an original plate light location, hot, shinny, and melted!
relays next dayed from summit!
-
that seems very hopeful, then! good deal.
I have boxes of relays and fuses from crush cars... oh well
-
6$ for a 40 amp with a wire harness i was good with.
-
court date 7/23
-
trailer power for running, left bright, and right bright are new fed through a 40 amp auto reset breaker, and 40 amp relays.
gave me fits, one of the relay socket pigtails i got from summit two of the wires were swapped in different pin locations!
once i got that figured out, everything i did worked the first time!
-
lights worked great.
crazy rain we drove though
washed off the load :)
-
Took pinion brake apart, cleaned and adjusted. Drum and shoes fine. Pull handel cable snaps lol.
Fix cable with yj scrap parts.
-
regional says 1400$ to put king pins in this thing
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=200969&cc=3296875
80$ in parts? hmmmm
drives fine and straight as can be- guy i bought it from said they were just done 20K ago
:o
-
hoping jareds shop can put a sticker on it, possibly offer some wisdom if they are actually bad or not.
-
It's like your Tercel needing ball joints and muffler bearings to get a sticker! ???
-
not much info on web. guess its time to buy a new impact and 1" air line grrrr
-
Easiest test is lift a side- install tire bar in wheel hand hole and yank. You'll know. Open til 5 or 7-12 on Saturday. Let me know if any time works for you.
-
ya i did so, its got a little click on the driver side that i checked, and i see someone has pryed away and torn the lower metal seal cage so the bearing is exposed >:(
-
There is a guy in Williamson steves truck repair. I bring my dump truck to him to do any work on it since I just look at the lug nuts and my back starts hurting. He did my inspection and is a straight guy
-
175$ in parts and in stock at regional- about same cost at rock auto.
Ill probably lube everything and ride dirty this weekend- asses options next week when i have time time. Ill probably tackle it. i watched a youtube video on doing a big truck and it didnt look too bad just heavy
-
bought parts- got home opened the hood and pulled a hub cap. decided the parts were wrong.
went back to regional, different guy at the counter. handed him again the registration to pull the vin, he comes out with another box and asks for 40$ more. haha
drank 3 beers and decided my impact gun still didnt budge a lug nut, pumped a tube a grease into the truck and called it good!
bah
-
Yeah, pretty much a mandatory to have 1" impact gun for MDT and up equipment. I worked at a HD repair shop and they had HF's earthquaker 1" impact gun and it work wonders.
alternatively, get a torque multiplier? http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/tow-rigs-trailers/1726730-anybody-use-torque-multiplier-remove-truck-lug-nuts.html
-
Alex helped me do the rear lug nuts. it was terrible whip lash with a 5' bar on a 1" ratchet. it was quite pain full in anyway we got them to budge.
I thought about getting another impact, i guess its inevitable i need one. bah
-
lost my battery tray cover on the way home bah!
must have left it loose when i unhooked inverter
-
boo!
I got great MPGs hanging back at your pace, give or take. I really need cruise to drive 64, the truck wants to do 62 or 68 when I'm not paying attention.
-
i figured you were on the phone when i was trying to push you , then you were gona again.
i set the cruse at 65 and slow down as marked.
i almost slammed into an aztec, i locked up the rear axle and was skid steering away from it with horn on into the other lane. i think it was my fault as i saw you turn right on red and i assumed there was a green arrow for right turn. bah
also missed a dear by 8" right around earthday camp ground road sunday morning. not good but 2 lucky calls! ill take a lost battery box cover.
-
seriously!
I know the right on red you're talking about, I should have stopped for that. I juuuust missed the actual green arrow, and there usually is one there. oops!
-
i really thought i blew a brake line something felt weird. tested 3x on the bridge, was fine
-
one of the guys at work use to work in calibration for Navistar in Indiana.
says regional is full of BS, for every level of hardware on all there trucks there are 4 different power level tunes.
any races in Indiana? haha says his buddy would hook up for a case of beer and reflash
-
Bad Lands, Attica IN. Was 6/27-28...
-
put a tape measure on this guy. i think its gona get a headake rack and some ramps.
:o
-
Yea buddy
-
Called thruway spring- guy on phone much better.
6.5hours labor
i can bring parts
front end alignment for 90$ optional
gona be 900-1000$ out the door
1.5day job need to schedule 1 day out
i guess i should just have it done
-
includes wheel seals and gear oil also needed
-
And they do great work
-
i hate paying people to work on my stuff. something always goes wrong
ill get it in next week.
-
0 head lights or runing lights of any kind on truck or trailer last night
trailer brakes work
bah!
-
whaaat
-
its so stupid
-
guess i need to find the ESC (body control module) on this thing and check the connections. found a thread where guy was having AC issues, horn, and signal issues- all fixed by cleaning and replugging in connections.
