pushed into shop for insurance pictures
driver mirror installed from vintage parts pile
interior and bed cleaned out
hood latch mechanisms broke free and now functional
all body dents banged out with rubber mallet
found a registration from 78' in the seat frame.
love this thing!
-
thats a cool truck
-
Leaving the bed?
-
Leaving the bed?
I asked same thing yesterday. It's in beer shape than he expected ;D
-
ya bed is staying
should be a great truck. little harder to find to find parts and glass but ill get it
-
Insurance ID cards in hand!
-
ford chassis stripped out, scrapping shell tomorrow.
-
i hate ford junk
I can wire an ls motor in 10 minutes
so much junk inter twined and i cant get this motor to run without the cluster plugged in. bah!
-
only thing i can find that i was working off of.
http://www.autogenius.info/ford-e-series-e-150-2011-fuse-box-diagram/
power to all things and cranks, wont run. boo.
-
scrapped the E250 shell this morning. Spent some time trimming down harness. still not happy.
box pulled/ should be great to fit on the frame. wheel base is 2" different.
ready to pop the cab tomorrow night
-
How long is the bed on this truck?
-
its like 9'2"
-
cab pulled tonight
2011 ford Electric wiring book came
-
cab mounted to new chassis
ford v8s and international vs chevy and chevy V8 there is about 6" difference in the wrong way. had to cut into the international fire wall. hacked and patched and done, will deal with it more when doing the interior. i knew anyway i did it i would not like so it just got done.
looks good as a rolling. hoping the fuel tank and canister play nice when its time to mount the bed, but steering brakes wiring first so it can turn itself around in the shop bay.
most parts in hand minus exhaust and glass.
-
has functional steering and brakes tonight.
-
after 2 hours of chasing wires and book reading with no start
MikeMike stopped over to use the lathe and some how stumbled upon Ford uses the same exact connector for the ignition switch as they do for one of the smart distribution box plugs and i had them reversed. what a terrible POS ford is.
back running! bah!
-
back on the lift tonight got rear slider bolts un froze, 4 new rotors, fedex bring pads tomorrow.
needs wipers and a sticker
-
fires from inside cab with a key. that took a lot of work. under hood harness trimmed down. A little more work under dash as required keeping the cluster and parts of the old ignition switch, two power modules. bah!
-
where do you have the window AC stashed? I don't remember this shop feature (from fb)
looking good!
-
feature was cut in this morning. sitting on top of the fridge with a new hole though the OSB to caved in addition lol
-
AC now!.. I’m jealous
-
the one in my appartment is WAY over sized, i wish i had the effort to carry it over. probably be much better in the larger space. the newer unit that i stuck in i bought for the trailer and is smaller. Has a remote control which id love at home.
left it cranking tonight, see how it is tomorrow. i expect to take a half day. need to run out to Palmyra to grab a new 4l60 pump
-
If i leave the floor hatch open I get the AC from the apartment falling down..
No man door so any entry exit I’m dehumidifying Monroe county..
-
drove out of the shop tonight.
new head liner installed
bench seat installed (needs to be lifted up about 2-3")
summit copy of flowmaster 40 installed
-
4.6 sounds good
played with some wiper motor parts tonight for a bit but not much accomplished.
-
cooling system complete and filled.
steering and trans coolers, Fan mounted, steering res mounted.
-
I need to stop and get some pictures of this one. My Grandpa seemed mildly interested in it before you ever started working on it.
-
hope to start working on finishing up the electrical and get the bed mounted this weekend. shouldnt be long for a test drive since its already plated and insured.
-
2 new vent windows and 2 rear windows installed.
1/2 rack of ribs on the shop grill killed progress earlier tonight lol
-
all door latches freed up and windows work, door lock key works. first real shop lot test drive now that it has a gas pedal and shift lever in cab.
-
99% wired, tail lights need rear hook up after bed installed.
-
much beer later this got dropped on and then flipped around. tomorrow will be lift the truck up and spec out some mounts.
all under hood and under dash wiring tied up and good to go minus mounting the E250 cluster behind the glove box.

-
windsheild source canceled, no stock as listed.
bed mounted tonight, put stickers on, drove it home.

new wiper blades on the way
interior floor stall mat fit and install
spare tire mount adjustment and mount on bedside
front windshield install
rear view mirror install

-
this thing rips. suprised its less HP than chevy. must not have moron trans protector tune like the Chevy has. super fun to drive. suspected limp issue i think is not there. it runs right up shifts hard and has a pretty comfortable ride.
silly fords!

has a dead petal issue that's intermittent. hard accell is fine but when cruising it goes to 15% throttle command via OBD read for a second or two then kicks back to correct. no other issues, doesn't misfire or sound weird just like its electronically governing throttle input.
-
has a bunch of body and chassis codes but nothing related to throttle position ect
hmmm. might have to talk to some work people i think its all delphi throttle stuff that we test
-
Have an old analog DVM? Or hook the pedal up to an oscilloscope, I bet you've got those at work. Look for smooth sweep or see if you can get it to hang or go dead anywhere. Just like trying to troubleshoot your damn APPS on the 24v.
-
anyone want come over tonight to crack beers while some CL dude takes the 1950 rolling chassis away with a TOW BAR?!?
this is going to be good.
-
oh god
-
agreed meeting time is 7PM so when he actually shows up if he does, it will be rolling home in the dark haha
-
even better
-
I hope he doesn't have to go far...
-
1hr +
-
That is not going to go well...
Make sure he has the MMTR phone number! ;D
-
Very much. Wish I’d gotten out of work a hair earlier

completly blown away at this CL experience.
Dude shows up on time.
has cute daughter with him.
shows up in a 1963 IH crew cab pickup thats un restored original.
we chat price, i have some few other things i throw in. payment made.
cool guy.
pulls a tow bar out with a piece of angle hinged to it. lines it up on the front frame and starts to C clamp it on. at this point im like o boy here it begins!
he then grabs a dewalt drill from the truck and drills holes and bolts the thing to the frame with 1/2" grade 8 hardware. even brings his own oil can to lube the bit. i am amazed.
he is rolling out of the lot by 7:22, apologizes for not having more time to shoot the shit and check out my trucks as they have another 1hr20min drive back to go.
i am amazed.
-
Good start but will it make it home?
-
Bearings ain’t care. It’ll get there. They might be hot but I’d figure worst would happen is blown tires.
Very cool! I’d have offered a weld bead if he was so well prepared to drill & bolt. Sounds legit.

another vendor backs out of delivering a windshield. WTF
swear im going to just buy another truck to steal a windshield from and part / scrap the rest.
-
dead petal is annoying. went away half way home from leroy. went away 10 minutes into my drive out to Naples tonight. all the way home fought with it the whole 50 min drive. bah!
-
ran down to binghamton and back tonight after work and got a used international windshield for 150$, 5 hours driving and 25gals of diesel. Had no place to put it after helping Matt prep his buggy tonight so cut out the old one and installed it. all looks good. just needs a good cleaning and new stickers. success! i have done much worse before.
-
clean transferable paperwork in hand for both trucks! yessssssss
-
new door skins with vapor barriers really cleaned up the interior!
-
been driving the hell out of this thing. super fun.
found L130 emblems finally on ebay, 54$ for a pair! baH!
-
had 6 people talk to me about this truck tonight. 2 asked if it was for sale.
too fun.
-
new brake light switch installed to fix some intermittent function i noticed.
daily use last month and stuff fun! getting a little chilly though!
-
heat, defrost, mechanical wipers installed tonight.
pulling an empty trailer down the Scranton tomorrow morning with it. hope its dry and clear!
-
logged 225 miles on this unit pulling a 3500lb empty trailer
new heat works great once 2 pairs of gloves and a hat stuffed in leaky dash vent. otherwise no issues but hate due to lack of cruse control.
managed to keep on dry roads and doesnt look to be salt coated after returning home on the trailer behind the 4500.
-
spent most of the day on this thing trying to diagnose dead petal issue.
had Steve come over with his laptop and monitor and log the PCM. he sees nothing in the PCM that indicates a problem with anything. we didnt buy 100$ in credits to change anything with HP tuners.
i did verify KAPWR (keep alive power) at the the PCM and PDC. since once you get it happy with a sustained high speed run it goes away and then the problem returns after a key cycle immediately.
i added in a wire to shut off traction control for next test drive but nothing on the log showed TCS pissed at all.
-
oil and filter change
man is this thing clean underneath
-
I love this thing! I wish it was a club cab, it'd be a sweet camper hauler.
-
love that 9' bed
-
summit horn dead and replaced with OEM van unit
head light tube fuse internal to switch failed, 1/4"x20 bolt replaced and good.
-
hahahaha
-
aww snap broken driver side window found today boo. just when i passed on a 150$ cab with good doors and emblems this week. F me
-
new glass came in for driver door. have to add that to next weeks list.
-
dropped a pallet on a tail light so came into shop last night
tail light changed
new reg sticker slapped on
driver side door cracked glass swapped (was original Iowa glass)
8k miles on it since build.
-
man +2 years ago already...
-
yup, longest i have ever had one. def has gotten used a lot towing and hauling stuff lol.
really wish it was on a 6.0 chevy chassis but meh.
-
if it never leaves the parking lot, I don't know if I'd feel badly plowing with one. Summer driver and winter plow rig could be a great use of one of those.
-
287,523 miles fresh 5w20 ful synthetic and filter. Tweeked camber in on both sides to fix tire wear condition. Meh.
-
I can’t believe you’ve sold all those other units and not this one.

-
i really dont have it listed. and the throttle issue to someone other than me would be a deal killer to most.
-
Oh I didn’t know it wasn’t listed.

another 120 miles on it today. nice day for a drive on 90
-
put away for winter
-
2+ years later finally put the L130 emblems on
thanks to some help from Will, go new tires mounted up for the front today.
ready to drop off for a sticker.
-
290K on this chassis today.
was on a parts run, when i got home had to check to see if my cats got cut off while i was out in the Irondequoit hood lol
amazon muffler separated at rear outlet, neat. actually sounds good haha
-
this thing has had 3 white wheels and 1 black wheel since i built it.
saw Nick and his dad were working at the new salvatores location build and stopped to say hi
what do you know there was left behind with building sale a white ford rim that is perfectly dirty match!
score!
-
Tire machine and alignment rack sometime?
-
swapped in a 4th matching van wheel donated from Nicks new restaurant cleanout trash. Two new high pressure valve stems and fresh balance on front tires now- yippee!
-
got an oil change, front left wheel bearing tightened up spindle nut, greese job
fresh inspection sticker
298K on chassis
-
new seat, 50$ FBMP find a few weeks ago.
retained slider, mint.
-
nice score! even the right color too!
-
only blemish on it is a splash of red paint, that matches the red of the truck lol looks like its been with the truck since 1950 ha
-
got a flat at the scrap yard yesterday bah.
added a radio today.
plugged tire swapped with spare.
