what ever you justify to spend on a welder / plasma, you will have gladly paid 4X that after the first week of using it and wish you had gotten it sooner. 


i got my 380 for 600$ used.  its treated me well.  im not sure i really need anything bigger.  something more durable id like but i think they all require minimal maintenance to keep in operation.

Buy the best quality you can afford.
Also consider that Miller products have heavy support right here in Roch. By Mahaneys Welding supply. The guys there are great and they carry everything. Even give us loaner equipment if needed.

Something to be said for spending  money at local businesses.

Just my 2cents.

We have an older Miller Spectrum 375 for hand work and the brand new 675 with machine torch for the plasma table. Both have reasonable consumable costs, And they are readily available.

was offered a Hypertherm powermax 1000 G3 for trade at $850 value. Pics look like a nice machine

lets see if they pull though.
