Mike doesn't know it yet, but he might be bringing this back from Albany shortly..
runs and drives, no pictures yet, but soon.. any interest?
-
Maybe
-
Also maybe. Half ass thinking about a winter beater for my wife.

Finally fixed the leaky exhaust in this. Found a nail in a tire sidewall too
Sarah loves it. So far so good on all else with daily commute to Henrietta for the last month+
Gave a cam phaser error last week. Grabbed the part but code didn’t return.
-
Good units
-
overheated sitting idling with AC on yesterday. coolant not significantly low (1qt or so). guessing the fan isn't doing its thing. I should have held out for a VW so I could plug in and tell it to cycle relays for me. I will wish for more computers to talk to cars!
-
If I remember correctly, the harness is pretty accessible to throw direct power at.
-
i know where this is a parts one ;)
-
no issues at all since then, just needs to not idle with AC on till it gets looked at. sure does burn/leak some oil though. I keep telling her to check it and it was about 2qt low. They're known for it, and I'll bet it's the cause of that parts one being parked!
-
In for oil change and check engine. Seems to use 3-4qt per change. I know it got a quart or two and it was below dipstick again. I should put an engine on the shelf or make a reminder to check it myself.
Lots of water in pcv part of intake though bottom of oil cap is not sludged.
I think this has a junkyard engine in it, blue paint marker jibbrish on valve cover.
Got a new exhaust cam phaser actuator. Second instance of code for that. Could be oil getting crappy too. The Dorman part even had a notice “change the oil too or you may not fix your problem” and it was late in oil service life last time it threw the code too.

Did both intake and exhaust actuators more than a year ago(?). Still good!

How’s your oil consumption?
And the valve cover to intake hose? I pulled that off and chocolate milk poured out…

No oil loss at this point
-
I’m still been a pretty good average with the fleet cars
Next round should be coming up soon
-
Keep me posted!

Apparently in the wonderful wise world of GM enginearing [sic] there are different front fender liners on different trim levels of the 10-17 equinox/ terrain/ srx/ etc. some have access covers to get to the back of the headlight housing and on this one you have to partly or fully remove the fender liner.
Idiocy.
-
Ha. Found that out in AZ a couple of years ago. It’s dumb.
-
driver windshield wiper reported non-op by a very perturbed vehicle operator just now.
open recall, haven't gotten notice from GM, so I wonder if parts are available yet.

Jerry-rigged it in some way, don’t remember how
-
Probably something like this
Will get GM parts next Friday at van bortel. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220907/8444ae32d78c1c735dd08597fd348505.jpg)

does that cross with 2005 silverado half ton by chance? i pulled the assembly out of the last truck
-
I doubt it. Much width difference.
It is under recall. Part Is only about $30 aftermarket anyway
-
mint if fix is only 30$
-
Don’t need to worry about that wiper recall.
She did still have full coverage on it. Edmunds values at ~$8k so hopefully it’ll be something close to that.

Stiff and sore, no airbags
She was turning left from 251 to 96 in Victor and an 85 year old Florida man didn’t stop for his red.
-
dang!
-
Just cleaned it out at Farmington Service.
LF wheel is broken, strut bent, lower a arm ripped at front mounting point, axle separated. Front end didn’t appear shifted. Probably repairable if one were dedicated to the car, but I don’t think worth considering with full coverage. Lower A pillar likely pushed in a bit the way the door is sitting.
-
sorta surprised no airbags. Hope she recovers fast.
-
No good! Glad it wasnt serious and that she's doing okay, hope she's 100% in no time.
Did the Equinox have side airbags? or only front?
-
I think it had side, but not 100% certain.
Didn’t have any malfunction indicators for airbags so whatever it did have, it thought were operational.
-
so some chain pull and load it for next race?
-
Insurance is towing this elsewhere for eval. I wonder when they’ll do that. And I wonder why that’s their MO when they could send Jeff G’s equiv to look at it on-site.
Check likely in 4-6wk
I’ll laugh if they want to fix it
-
probably better it sits at a tow lot racking up day storage fees, usually the insurance company then moves faster s
-
agreed. they're moving it tomorrow; I just dropped keys of with it at Farmington Service after a DMV stop to move Equinox plates to the automatic TDI.
-
Ended up getting like $6100 for this after 8-10 weeks. Fuck esurance, they sucked as bad as Geico when I had my crash with the dumpbus and they sat on it for months.
-
haggerty just offered Matt 3x initial XJ investment to keep with clean title, or 4x to turn over to them after a front end smack/air bag deploy when he got pinched in a front and rear inpact from panic brake infront of him.
(no real damage to XJ other than air bags)
i have never used auto insurance (knock on wood) other than when a safe lite van kicked up a rock and broke my RAM windsheild, was replaced for free.
its all basically like gambling.
