bah.  spent a fair amount of time on this.  P0161 still comes on after a few drive cycles.

verified wire colors correct going to bank 2 downstream
new o2 sensor

htr wires from harness have voltage on start up.
htr duty command looks reasonable to the problem O2 compared to the other 3 when running.
O2 output looks resonable to the other 3 when running.

hoping the PCM isnt messed up from wire harness damage and months/years of driving before i fixed it

lost where to go

Any chance of intermittent signal due to wiring repair? Can you record/ log ?

Agreed, lost. That’s weird.

doubtfull soldered and heatshrinked looks fine but it is like right above top of trans burried in tunnel

i twisted all 4 pins 45degrees and jammed the connector together and staring at the data it looks fine live.

not really sure how to log data with my  Snap-on Solus Ultra im sure it does

a few complaints about using only NTK OEM sensors- looks like i sourced an amazon no name same PN.  whats another 50$ to throw at it.

i measured the HTR resistance at 4-5ohms.  seems resonable but cant find a number on line other than generic 10-20ohms for an 02 htr.

i guess i plan to trace out wires from plug to PCM today, and check for ground shorts?

seems reasonable. and see if you can figure out long term logging to see if it ever gets a bad reading that you can catch that might show an intermittent short/open. seems likely in this case it wouldn't even necessarily be at the repaired portion of the harness but maybe somewhere else up/down stream.

good luck

got PCM pinouts

pulled o2 harness plug up to engine bay where accesable to probe

everything appears as it should.

nothing cross talks to anything on the pcm or ground where it shouldnt.

going to try a new 02, then its deemed a PCM issuee after that doesnt work.

pulled in from winter storage.

performed HTR redyness TSB 25-001-07

data shows Sensor 2 bank 2 HTR duty pegged to 100% but HTR not drawing power.  internal PCM fault.

wiring pined out and double checked all good.

took HTR power from bank one (working) and used in parallel control power to fire a relay to supply power to bank2 2ensor.  added a 5th sensor to old bank 2 power wires (originally with out this and additional new code developed)

cleared all and drove 2 drive cycles, no lights yet.  time will tell.

freaking signals, hazzards, horn not working any more randomly WTF

2005 4.0 manual PCM found for 215$ that i need to decided quickly to pull trigger on or not.  its a "wranglerfix" PCM and not sure HP tuners can change vin.

electrical gremlins suck.

did you price check what SIIA or SIAA or whoever repaired the box truck's Cummins N14 ECU for relatively cheap?

thanks, i sent them and email request, will see what they say.

one forum said there are a few connections that can be reflowed soldier if you open up the PCM.  i might try that also.

also dawned in me, i could just put the vin into the green truck and take it to get inspected down the road with the reg for the jeep lol

cut up a hard top to make a half cap today.

i bet with some plywood, glue filler i could do a half way decent job and finish it.

plan is to change it up and make it more attractive for resale.  looks pretty cool

ya truck style

grabbed some ply wood today and started on it.

first gluing drying up tonight.

going to try and grab a sliding rear window out of like a Ranger for it.

should be mild hack but turn out pretty good with some fill work and paint.
