all the parts in the shop and ready to go minus tires.  looks like we got 99% of the missing parts filled in.

i need to order a 3/4 heim for his track bar to replace the junk one the kit has.

also need to track down a couple bushing inserts.

If your talking about the eyes on the botom of the fronts they fit fine as is with the bushings they shipped with.  Just need a few washers on each side of the bushing to fill in space.   I have not squared away the rear yet.  Turns out they don't sell bar pin eliminators for studs.....so much for this weekends project.

I'm confused, all you need is a plate with a hole drilled in the middle of it

Shocks are fitting well?

fronts bolted on, rears didnt bolt on.

front steering stabilizer really isnt made to work with a skyjacker track bar relocation bracket, because the holes it uses are already used...

Road tested machine on new lift and rubber, good to go!

Hmmmm, did you use one of the stabilizers?

What did you do for the rears? Need some feedback to improve the design.

i made bar pins out of 3/4" bolts for the uppers-  3/4" is stupid big for shock eyes.  it would be nice if they came with bar pins.

for the lowers i drilled out the brackets to 3/4" holes, which was probably on the 1:1 factor of safety level.

3/4 holes should come with bushings to a normal common hole size. Even better would be a bushing assortment to common stock bolt sizes like 1/2 and 9/16 and the close metrics for the intended application.

bushings dont work with bar pins

Post by: mr.mindless on March 05, 2012, 01:18:54 PM
how could a bushing not work?

oh, right, they flare out, and the bushing squishes around them, don't they?

I guess different bushings would have to be the answer then

actually now that you say that i probably could have taken a peice of poly tubing to slide over the bar pin.  that would be a cheap "soft" bushing that would work around the bar pin flare.  i really wasnt happy with what i did, and it wasted and hour of my time.

Picked up with a grinning customer!   8)

Ryan, whats the deal with charging that steering stabilizer.  jeep drives like a dream to 80mph, but when you hit a pot hole at like 40 there is just a little bit of shimmy for like 1-2 seconds.  i would have never noticed it because i drive shit trucks, but Anthony noticed it and showed me on one of our test drives...  not sure what could help that, maybe more toe? more dampening on the steering stab?

You can try upping the pressure to see if it helps.

Finding what the problem is would help more. :)

I would guess trac bar or bushing on a control arm.

Nitrogen pressure in the Profender stabilizer fixed it and all is well now!  I went over last night for a house call and some test and tune!

i drilled, tapped, and used a bolt, spacer, washer, nut to pull out the snapped off in side part.  took the old broken head and bolted the top back on with some RTV so he could go wheeling today.  Dealer part 3 days away or see if Arie can get it today.
