Truck has existing 2.5" lift kit and is tearing front CV boots monthly

I have ordered All Pro Extended CV boots and should be good for install next week or week after race.

I assume you've separated CV shafts before?

It's pretty simple to get the hub/knuckle torn down.  There is a thin rubber seal between the wheel bearing/hub assembly and the knuckle that may not survive the reinstall.  The axle nut should be a 35mm... at least that's what it is on mine.  Once you get the axle on the bench, the easiest way to separate the inner and outer shafts is here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEaWyxF1S7o

this was fairly straight forward, 4 bolts, a nut and the shaft is out.    one of the CV things spat out the needles when i took it apart so that took about 30min additional time that i was smarter on the 2nd side.  installed new boots, filled with new grease.  clamp suppled crashed to lower balljoint so HD nylon ties were used everywhere.

5 hours to do both sides, boot upgrades, grab something to eat, and run to wallmart for some gear oil, change both diffs.

followed the FSM to remove the tie rod from the first side, didnt need to do it and didnt on the second side.

not bad for M4

no need to dissamble the birf to change the boots.....  just pull the inner snap ring and swap boots

had to trim some bolts at pick up that i missed.  questionable clearance but it probably needed to be done.

Dom says there is a grind noise also on his way home at slow speed.  i didnt hear anything when i did a test drive hmmm

need to call alpro and bitch, the 5$ clamps they said i needed crashed with the ball joints and no chance they would even almost fit.

Finially a break!  Passenger brake backing plate was bent and rubbing on rotor.  So happy a two min fix instead of another 4 hour R & R to try and chase unknown

got a call its leaking grease.

just called Allpro and told them their clamps they provided got thrown in the garbage and i had to put nylon ties on so customer could leave.

they were unaware that what they sent does not look like what is on the website, a lower profile band clamp type.

Guy said to try to find a correct clamp solution local and send him a copy of the costs they would riemburse for cost.  kind of a hassel but i guess better than expected.
