Acquired this afternoon.
Very sturdy and pulls nice for a 34'er.
-
At a glance it looked like a car hauler converted from a camper but it's not.

-
Look like three TJs will fit but tight. Plenty for two suv's.
-
They cost $11,500 new today :o

Very cool set up.

Pretty cool with that ramp truck.
I like the tie down holes. Get d rings for them?

I've never seen time down rails like that before. Love it.
-
3 TJs might be tight haha. I fit 3 YJs on my 34' wedge chained together bumper to bumper, and had about 10" of deck to spare from tire front tire to rear tire. They were stock tire/bumper YJs also.
looks like a big bumper girl. over axled should keep the tires happy for most part and they look far enough back to make a bumper pull tolerable.

green XJ is Toms new jeep with parts from the red 2dr wonder?

E-track? Pretty common in container trucks. Not sure I'd trust it 100% with car tie-down. Prob be fine, though.
-
not sure what etrack is rated for but I've definitely seen it on floors for enclosed car hauling use before with over tire straps
-
Properly affixed and with the correct straps used, I'm sure it'd be fine. I was remembering of some of the tie-down clips I've seen that seem a bit weak.
-
Hauled Tom's XJ and 2 John Deeres and a pull-behind mower on it to the Picnic last weekend. Pulls really nice and go down the road straight and zero swaying. Definitely need look at brakes as some of them seem to be in-op (wiring?).
I think I need to raise my hitch one hole to level the trailer better and adjust the angle to move weight distributing hitch's bars down some.
-
Looks like a solid trailer! Good find!
-
looks like it will get it done!

Let's talk about some wiring tech
I want to put all new wires and replace light fixtures where needed add more marker lights and reverse lights to it.
I'm thinking to put at least 3 junction boxes so that way there'll be no splices to go bad beside at lights themselves.
I was thinking to use something like this but I want to say there gotta be a better sealing junction boxes available.

Kinda something like this but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra cost.

I'm thinking of ways to secure wires between junction boxes and components; loop clamps or gray PVC pipes. I'm leaning toward loop clamps
-
foam? was that a mobile home trailer? lol

Lol, I didn't notice that. I used the picture as an example of gray pvc from google image search.
-
If you have the room, use outdoor weather tight grey boxes and conduit. That will make any replacement wiring easy.
I've got a couple of those black junction boxes on the '48 and they aren't very tight.
Really, nothing will keep out water. Use plenty of dielectric grease.
-
I can make something water-proof AND nuke-proof but at the same time I don't want to as that'll turn it into a project and require big budget haha.
I think these outdoor weather tight grey boxes and conduits will work well for me as I have TON of room underneath, along with this kit.

did you pay the annual 226$ reg fee or was the plate you had from something else on this guy?
-
I've been planning to use grey PVC when I redo my lowboy. hadn't decided if I was going to bother with j boxes.
my issues have always been around chafing at transitions or hangers. I was thinking deburred plastic conduit would have a decent chance of not screwing up insulation.

I'm running PO's plate for now. I'll have my dad to register it in Wisconsin as soon as they get in their new house. The trailer's rated gvwr is 14,500lb. It's $104.50/year for 12,000lb gw, or $246.00(!)/year at 14,000lb gw. My truck is plated for at 12,000lb, so I'm gonna try go with 12,000lb on the trailer to stay under 26k gcwr (and cheaper).

the more I think about it, the more I don't want to run ANY conduits. Dirt collecting inside conduits can cause problems (unless somehow perfectly sealed) and make any repairs more difficult.
I am thinking to run wires (preferably jacketed) and use Delphi Packard weather pack connectors at all components (brakes, lights, etc.) all hanging wires (at brakes, lights, etc.) will be sleeved with either wire looms or braided sleeves for additional protection. I'm thinking about wires running down the trailer will be either secured with loop clamps every 12"-18" or weld in a long 1/2" round stock along the trailer on one side and zip tie all wiring to it.

(3) 8 lugs is odd to add to 14.5?

You're not the only one. They're 6k axles, meaning 18,000lb gvwr but the plate on tongue say 14,500lb.

There's many different weather-pack connectors available. I narrowed it down to Metri-Pack 480 series because they're the only ones I find that's designed to fit 10 gauge wires and good quality (not some China junk). I'm going to run 10ga wires to brakes. I most likely will go 14-16ga wires for lights.
-
Look like 10 ga wire for brakes is pushing it for my trailer's length.
3amps per brake time 6 brakes equal 18amps total.

-
Hope you ran at least 10ga on the truck side when you redid it, too.
-
I believe it is, I'll double check. I used the 7-wire trailer cable from front to back on my truck when I redid it.
-
Need tires! They're 8 years old.
-
weird to see balance weights on a trailer tire
-
Trailer officially out of commission for the time being. One tire failed while sitting. Tread is no longer flat, too rounded on one tire. Other two are wearing extremely bad, one cup is like a foot long each.
Jumping bad starting at ~20mph.
-
6x New tires mounted. Old tires were just downright bad. Two other tires were this close >< to blow.
-
new tires look great!
-
new tires look great!
Thanks. I got them at $106/tire shipped to my door from Amazon. Load F. Only $1 more than Jared.
-
Weighted empty, with my strap box and two spare tires in the bed and full tank.
-
Reweight without trailer.
-
The trailer pretty much 5k by itself, as is.
-
How did u communicate to get those? I pulled into a CAT scale one time with my trailer and there was a speaker box. Decided not worth it for me and drove out.

App
Works stellar. I don't need to get out or even open my window at all. The result get emailed to me via PDF. First weight was $11, then the reweight was $2.

I had no idea there was self service on that now, that's incredible!
I was wondering why it wasn't a dot matrix impact printout.

Very cool!

I'm going to start design a tongue tool box to custom build. I'm not sure if I should make the winch to go inside like in the picture as an example or just put it on outside on top of the deck?

-
If you need the box to be dry you have to put the winch outside. If you want the winch to last longer, put it inside...
Or make a second box/ false floor.

I got it mocked up with the 3x3x0.25" square tube and JK OEM hitch. I really like on how simple it is.
I've decided to leave the winch outside since it'll be on a cradle and not to take up space inside the tool box.
Question; I'm wondering should I bother to either flip the hitch around or use a longer receiver tube to put the hitch pin "inside" the tool box (lockable) to slow down thieves. I probably is just overthinking it.
-
How about mounting the winch in a weather tight toolbox laid on it's side? Open the lid to use winch, close the lid to keep sealed from elements (no holes in the box at all).
-
Not a bad idea mark.
Conceal the pin for piece of mind if you want to store the winch on the trailer, for sure.

Look like something like this will work nicely.
-
that reminds me that I should look for underbody boxes more often. that looks pretty nice.
-
i was looking at new flatbeds today. illonois seems to be the place to get CM beds, 2200$ picked up, way nicer than mine (and bigger 84" CA)
-
interesting. good to know for price comparison to what I'd have into refinishing mine too - but I wouldn't trust their paint job "off the lot" anyway. Nick's is already showing some rust at joints too. One summer on it.
-
Hitch welded on. Need to figure out how I'll like to mount the battery box.
-
how big battery box? Would it fit in the V area in front of the winch, a bit recessed between the frames.

It's next to the winch for now. I'm running a group 34 battery (I already have it). I'm gonna design and build a storage box to go in the tongue opening and the battery will be relocated inside of it.

Sold on 8/21/2021 to a YouTuber for $4,500. It served me well, time to move on

nice!
