It an official project now.
1996 Ranger
4cyl
5-speed
Not too rusty
The goal of this is to make it a reliable fast Brolite. Its going to get pretty much everything replaced or checked. PS pump is a little noisy, it has a new alternator.
-
Stripping has started.
-
If you need a hand let me know
-
Wow I expected it to be worse. Is it from NY?
-
my goal would be to get it plated and inspected while its a truck, Bro-light Ultimate adventure!
-
Its from Mount Morris, not sure where it was before that.
Its not too bad, bumper bolts came out easily, looks to have had some brake lines replaced, exhaust is rotted out, not too much rust on the cab, so far one of the cab mounts on the frame is rusted out, I will get further into it this weekend.
I power washed the inside of this thing, it was pretty dirty.
-
reliable
You could be breaking new ground!!
I'm with sMike. I want mine to have a plate too. All racecars should have plates. For ice cream runs, and ultimate adventuring.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
Be hard to have it plated without a windshield.
-
nor will it be a bimmer lol
-
id make a piece that snaps on or something
-
Dual purpose rigs dont win races, or come in second, or third, maybe second form last if someone breaks... ;D
-
stocked up on POS ford parts FYI
-
arie, do you have any 500$ ranger units?
-
not in those years...
checked yesterday.
-
I can't find any 500 rangers anywhere. Especially in PA. not to mention they are mostly 4x4. Found more 2wd here in roch.
I've got some guys on the lookout so hopefully something turns up. James at farmington is gonna hate us. Maybe he will just build a bro lite shelf.
-
keep an eye out for me to, ill do one. we mine as well just do all the cages the same time lol
-
sounds like fun
stupid school...
-
Yea I agree
-
Stop hijacking my build thread. >:(
-
Title says this guy weighed 2988 lbs, I bet I can get it to 2600 race weight.
-
Interior stripping has started.
-
Here is a shot of the 112hp powerhouse. 8 sparkplugs for increased power.
-
that looks really clean for a 97 thing
-
Yea, its really surprising for only $900 delivered, I was expecting a rotten junker.
Cage going in next week? 8)
-
sure if i can walk by then. having issues today
-
No Windows.
-
Dam you've been busy
-
Can't believe how clean that thing looks.

-
Almost ready for the cage.
-
Its a bit larger than expected.
-
It does have supply, vent, return in it.
-
22 gal
-
that's a LOT of gas for a 4 banger!
I'm thinking 10-12 would be fine....
-
why so big?
-
Jumped the gun. I had a couple adult beverages in me when I ordered.
Yea. 10-12 is good.
Anyone want to buy a sweet fuel cell?
-
Finding cheaper small race cells with steel enclosed is tough.
-
summit has any size
what is the ID of the ranger frame?
-
26.5"
-
This is a good size, but the vent and supply are stupid. Need to add a return too, dumb.

Those Pro Armour harness are not SFI approved. Not sure the rules on that, most racing need SFI approved belts...

-
most of the tube work done, need to mount the seat and harness'
-
Ok
I'll let you know.
-
got a seat mounted and some harness tabs in
looking pretty good.
-
Looking good.
I'm still in airports for another few hours. I can come up Wednesday to see if I fit. I'm gonna be answering emails and customer calls for a couple days. Going away for a week sure does make a lot of work for myself.
Always good times in China. The flights are stupid long but other than that I love it.
-
Nice.
I was noticing how your engine hoops enter the firewall. Seems like a better design than moving the ECM to stay parallel with frame rails.
-
Wednesday is good, or any time this week.
I beat the floor down with BFH to make as much room for the seat. the truck Frame gets in the way.
its comfortable for me, so it should be tolerable for you haha
We talked about different ways to support the front shock hoops. seemed better to support them to the pillars. Its kinda hard to make good structural nodes with a body in the way, but a couple gussets i think it was be a nice strong stiff car.
I opted to support the cage of well support side bars. just to hard to get to the narrow frame.
-
small cell mounted
tall guy adjustments made
big cell mounts / some rear shock supports, should be ready to pick up soon. ill be done tonight
-
Let me know when you are done with it.
If you are done tonight I can grab it tomorrow during the day. Leave it outside or meet me there?
-
ok ill let you know.
busy day tomorrow at work, so probably leave it for you. i can put it in the kitchen hauler
-
loaded in the kitchen hauler
big cell mounts done
rear shock support tubes
threw in some extra tube scraps if you need them
have fun. mine should be ready for test next weekend.
-
Rolling heavy.
I need a new tow vehicle. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/24/fc71da92802dabb81f5d0b34e6a3e1b3.jpg)
-
Dakota will tow a Bro Lite all day long!
-
Power is not the issue, its got that and the single mpg towing to prove it.
Suspension is not good, feels like the trailer could throw the truck around at any point.
-
surprising, mine towed pretty stable, and I had her loaded up GOOD a few times. Only time I felt that way was towing another Dakota. That was pushing it...
I have some sweet helper springs that might fit it. They were on my 98 and kinda felt like a rear swaybar...
http://www.activesuspension.com/
I've been meaning to see if they'd fit the Eagle but haven't gotten to it. If they'll fit they're yours if interested.
-
Shocks have shipped, hope they dont loose all their oil on the way.
-
Steering upgraded.

-
between you and smike i should invest in red solo cups
-
They are a garage necessity.
-
I like that light bar on the cummins. How did you mount it?
-
We sell. Mounts for them. Had to adjust that one a bit to make it fit the curved bar.
-
Must have been a Bro Day!
-
those light rod things are the most gay thing i saw at KOH all night. it really got old when the guy with two of them whipped out his banana hammock on back door
-
-
It has a light saber?

For sale, race in style with this great truck, Not only is it stylish, but it has a winning combo. The powerful dual spark (8 plugs) 2.3L inline 4cyl runs just as good now as it did when it rolled on the assembly line in 1996. The transmission shifts silky smooth.
It has been professionally caged, to protect you in the event of a hi-speed rollover. The steering has been quickened by adding a 1:1.5 quickener, FOA 2.5 remote res shocks keep this baby firmly planted for maximum traction and smooth butter like landings.
Winning is not an option in this truck, its is without doubt the only thing this truck can do. If it dosent win the race, look for problems witht he driver, not the truck.
$3000, is a bargain for this Bro-Lite class Ranger.
-
Awesome! ;D
-
Does This Come With Free Delivery?
TEAM MASKALANS or GBR should be all over this.
-
It would be in my driveway if that money wasn't earmarked for koh
