They're closing 10/15, possession 10/18. Horrific timing as far as I'm concerned (I have to work friday-saturday at least and have already agreed to) but I guess it's set.
They're getting prices from pod people tomorrow since they'll be staying here for at least a month or three while looking for a place here. Going to see how that compares to potentially getting a trailer to move and store things in. Either something buggy-hauler sized, or something to just sell when done with it for little to no loss, as opposed to whatever shipping would be plus $200-something/mo and no-access storage for those pods.
Guess I'll know more Tuesday.
Might be looking for a parking spot for the winter for it. Or I might just (put up a fence and?) park it along the hedge row here. Things to think about.
Want to get the Nissan gone an tdi out of the garage too. I'm inheriting a pile of tools. Hmm
-
Got that out side lot by me now,
-
Lot by you?
-
My house for sale...
-
Yea. Buy an enclosed. Sell it when done. A 24' bumper pull should be about $3500 for a decent one.
-
Yeah my grandfather bought the lot next to his garage
-
http://rochester.craigslist.org/for/3288849934.html
-
Nice Ryan, thanks.
Only price they have so far is the ABF you-pack. They do $2/mi transport, and $400/mo storage. So that's pretty well guaranteed to be 3 grand with zero recoupment.
-
find a big goose i want, ill rent it to you :)
-
I did, you ignored me! (Tim's)
-
still over priced
-

racingjunk has some fixer uppers in the 3500 range and lots of really nice name brand newer ones around 4800 (which seems nearly silly since the GA and MS manuf's sell em new for 5k). Mostly OH for the ones that are in reach. One outside Buffalo and one near MSP that are on the higher end of things, but it would be nice not to try and bank on picking something up on the way there.
-
dad's gonna give this guy a shout
http://www.racingjunk.com/Used-Trailers/2731263/enclosed-trailer.html
asking price might be a little high but it sounds like it's nicely fitted for resale.
-
'06 showroom condition Haulmark is in their driveway. I think it's a 24 x 8.5 7k v-nose tag but I'm not certain on details. It belonged to a friend of a neighbor, local to them. He was asking 6500, Paid 5k. Maybe high but it was the ONLY local option out there either of us could find. The one on RJ there was asking 4850 and the guy decided not to sell, the one in buffalo ny never got back to me. All the rest I liked were in OH/ MI/ IL.
-
3000lbs cargo seems so usless for that CU FT
-
I hope they don't have as much stuff as I did lol
-
I'm hoping it's a 10k with 5200# axles. Dad is more interested in the potential usefulness of 4 D rings in the floor?
Whatever it is, it'll be fine for this use. Maybe just hurt resale to someone who wants to haul a car later. Meh.
-
I hope they don't have as much stuff as I did lol
More, I'm sure.
-
Well I filled smikes trailer, 4 pickups, & 6 cheerokees ::)
-
I'm sure this'll be a full Haulmark, full 6' of bed I have, full back of cab, full SuperCrew bed & cab, and a full Magnum, maybe with a rooftop carrier strapped on someplace too.
-
we PACKED my trailer with keller shit. that was heavy lol
-
we PACKED my trailer with keller shit. that was heavy lol
I'm thinking a 7k enclosed trailer is going to be inadequate just in weight capacity...
-
I hauled 9k in mine. Bring spare tires and its fine.
-
It is always amazing how much stuff is in a house once you start moving it.
-
yeah no shit
-
I hauled 9k in mine. Bring spare tires and its fine.
this
-
10k haulmark econohauler
ST225/r15 LR D
1 spare
-
Was staring at shit after i got the bed back on - It's gonna be fun to add two more cars here. I hope the damn walnut tree is done dropping bombs soon. I could use that last 20' of driveway soon.
Hope I can sell the frontier quick when I get back. Still needs a buff & wax, headlight polish, and blackener stuff on the flares. interior detail too. Maybe done this week, but no time to actually sell before I leave.
Wanna get the Jetta done to, start probably driving that if it doesn't want to fall apart. Body is pretty rough, but I miss tooling around for pennies per mile.
Getting a little scared of 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bucket especially as far as garage/ shop space is concerned.
-
Got that out side lot by me now,
Can you drop me a line on this when you have a chance?
-
http://binged.it/SMCt4w
the big lot with the long building in it to the left of my place
-
Mike...
The building the WJ is in is still mine and will be for a while....
Another option...
-
Unless its been cleaned out significantly, I think it would maybe not fit. We're talking an enclosed trailer that's I think 25 or 27' hitch ball to bumper.
Thanks very much though, definitely appreciated
-
Next time someone heads through Cleveland, check out Melt Bar & Grilled
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/14/revy6apu.jpg)
There are three of them. Like 30 different crazy grilled cheeses on the menu. 40 beers on tap, zero of them mass market shit, and another 20 bottles of good stuff.
I got The Dude, meatballs and motz sticks w marinera and provolone. Delish.
-
I had the blue burger = awesome! I really liked Cleveland, it gets a bad wrap.
-
True story.
-
I think I see the difference between a name brand and Georgia-built now. This trailer is a quality unit.
Marker lights are faded from CO sun, but otherwise she looks pretty showroom fresh. Tires look good, hopefully they really are and I can be level enough that they're happy. I hate torsion axles.
-
Ryan, I should've ha you give me lessons before I came out here.
It's stupid I don't want to throw out half of what I don't want to throw out. Who gives a shit about printed kids tee shirts or sports memorabilia when I don't give a fuck about the Twins anymore. Hardest to get rid of: 3-5 years worth of Powerboat Magazine, 82-85 or so. There's some sweet shit in there, flipping through...
Its a good thing I don't buy kitch crap anymore and throw magazines out as soon as I read them these days.
-
I took 12 years of honda-tech out to the recycling a couple weeks ago
-
the shits gotta go! just do it!
-
Yup, all in the dumpster. You have not used the junk in 5 years or more, so why do you need it?
Throw it all out, thats my motto. ;D
-
It occurs to me that I now buy shitty cars, trailers, etc. that may be worse.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/16/a3yby3ur.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/16/apemute5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/16/baqejaju.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/16/ybuqe4ud.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/16/3ymuqehu.jpg)
There's a bunch of wasted space in the middle that I'm not happy about. Before I got here... Hope there's enough room & enough tongue weight.
-
Nice trailer.
-
Really nice, no doubt.
-
Liked my Haulmark and would still have it if it had 5k axles!
-
packing is a skill 80% of humans do not have.
-
Packing sucks. I'm good at the loading tetris, and don't hate that part though.
A really big TV on top of a couch is what stole the space. I'm not sure what I'd have done differently, but I think the cushion space around the tv is way overkill (it's a 65" flat screen, flat and alone in the Magnum is probably the only other option than the trailer - and it's not needed at my place at all, so it's tough).
Blah blah.
Dad can hardly walk right now. Knee is bothering the shit out of him. Getting older seems to suck pretty hard. Hope I don't need parts replaced before 70. He already has one hip. Bet he needs the other (other knee was killing him before he had the hip done, from it taking over for motion control the hip had lost).
-
jack and coke is for that, suck it up
-
It's at least 4 levels past that sort of self medication. You ever see someone bite back crying out in pain when they go to sit down? Makes ME want to self medicate but I don't think it would do him any good this side of blackout.
-
my mom is about at that level most of the time, she has heart issues that also suck for most types of pain medications
-
I’m 32 and get quarterly epidurals (had one yesterday and yes I was involved in the current meningitis scare) and already need a knee replaced in the future.....
doesn’t bode well for our generation...
-
if i make it to 40 and can still walk on my own, ill be happy.
-
We keep living longer and being more active... At least in our parents generation they can replace joints and have em last 20-30 years. I hope this shit improves for us, and I can't
Imagine what they'll be able to do when "our" kids are wearing out 70 years from now.
-
I am ready to throw away everything that I own right now :)
-
chuck it all, just think, this is movement 1 of 4 you will have to move all this shat again 3 more times.
-
Not true at all. Hence the trailer purchase. Most of that shit is staying right where it is till they have a place. You know how small my house is, I couldn't double the amount of shit in there if I had to.
I'll have major issues with just the tools I'm keeping.
-
I got room for tools.. :)o
-
I'll MAKE room. Not like my garage is useful for cars anyway :)
More shit to throw out to keep the worthy stuff.
I really need a shop. Maybe next time.
-
next time ha
-
No more permanent solution than a temporary one... (or similar wording)
-
Shit, we'll have to see if that applies to THEM too :)
-
Heavy.
Sorry if it's not rotated right
-
That's some heavy furniture
-
better get those tires aired up and hop it rains!
-
Its only 10,700 on the trailer axles, thats well within working parameters. ;D
-
you leave yet?
should be bet on how many tires get changed?
i am going to go with 3!
-
I'm going with all four.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/e5ybuzy5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/a6yha2e7.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/pa4y7uja.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/6yjyjere.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/azyhyquj.jpg)
-
Oh crap!
-
I have dibs on the wheels when it gets totaled out
Dam. No trailer brakes?
-
Oh noes! Dumpbus takes a hit. Ouch!
-
Not good!
-
shit
-
Tis only a flesh wound??? I hope!! :-\
-
Who is going to get the trailer?
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/20/a6yha2e7.jpg)
i love this license plate frame!
-
what a pain,
-
At least nobody got hurt. Formulating a plan to get the dumpbus and trailer back here, thats a pain in the dick.
-
Definitely a fuckin pain in the expense.
I do have collision so I'm not totally up a creek. Adjuster will be out Monday and then we'll see if I get to play numbers with a total-out or if I'm just stuck with eating my deductible and that's final.
I'm waiting for a shuttle back to MSP now, and I've got a flight back to ROC tomorrow morning. Hopefully insurance is all straightened out by EOB Tuesday and if that's the case it should be ready to go by the end of the week. I did book a round trip right away, little gamble there.
Whole cooler stack is toast, fan clutch broken, fan probably bent, belt cut, maybe tensioner and alternator bent or cracked but I can't quite tell. At least upper rad hose, right headlight and fender. Front bumper, jack tagged the rear bumper, hitch (not rusted, full wall thickness and no cracks; just plain failed), spare tire winch (hitch hit the tire and ripped it off), maybe a rear shock (tire hit it). Hood and grill obviously, hood latch, upper cross bar. Battery is fine, core support probably straightenable. Passenger door wasn't closing right so can could be a little tweaked too but not badly.
Guy at the shop took a quick look and found white fender and hood on car-part already. Cooler stack should be easy parts. Hopefully nothing else hiding.
Everybody there thinks the Eaton is the coolest thing ever :)
-
Oh, as for what happened:
Cloverleaf exit with a short decel lane was backing up. Right lane through traffic was moving into the left lane ahead of me. Everybody on their brakes and slowing down. I had a truck in front of me (obv). Then suddenly everyone is slowing down WAY faster to damn near a full stop. I had a guard rail to my left so I couldn't take the (flat, smooth) ditch, and I had minus 4-6' to stop. I smacked the truck, and as traffic is clearing while we aim for the right shoulder, we pass a white RAV4ish thing at 30* to the direction of travel on the right lane. Truck driver tells me this driver had a close call with the slowing traffic, overreacted, and spun out. She didn't get hit by anyone and just drove off. No witnesses stopped. I got a sweet $200 ticket for following too close.
Trailer brakes were fine. It was a matter of going from slowing down to STOPPING without a sight line to the cause. Brake lights were already lit everywhere, so it was a perception failure more than anything else.
-
And the dump bus is down again!!! hopefully they total it out and take the drivetrain and put it in a f550
-
Uh oh
-
I thought it was tha Dakota for a second....
Not good...
-
Nope, not good.
Wondering if I should call them Monday to have them start gathering known needed parts. Can't work on it till the insurance adjuster looks at it but thats probably no reason not to get what we know is wrecked on the way since I plan to fix it, totaled or not. I don't think there's any real hidden damage.
I need to remember to call an let them
Know how to shut it off too ;D I forgot to do that.
-
You should claim loss of business as well....
-
http://frederick.craigslist.org/cto/3329572182.html
hmmm...
swap stuff?
-
Insult to injury: dropped my iPad getting on the interterminal shuttle bus in PHL.
Go me!
-
you have someone picking you up when you get back?
-
Thanks for the multiple offers, my parents got here a day ahead and picked me up. No issues there.
Realized I have no tools right not other than what was laying aroun the garage. Spare random sockets in a bucket plus a wrong size flare wrench got my lea sweeper chain back on. Hedge trimmed and leaves round 1 done. Weee
-
Adjuster didn't show up today. I hope tomorrow does t have to be yellingday.
Funny:
KBB private party value: $6800
AutoTrader comps: $12,000-19,000. There's one exception out of of the 10 96-98 diesel 4x4 manuals at 8500, and it's a SRW swap with a farmer's flatbed on it.
-
Adjuster didn't show up today. I hope tomorrow does t have to be yellingday.
it's hard to have yellingday when nobody picks up their phones or returns calls.
-
Still no adjuster?
-
I had that same problem when the lady hit my trailer. if you call every 5 min untill they pick up that works best.
-
I'm working on that. I emailed him yesterday, left a VM this morning and again at noon. have about 15 unanswered calls so far. it's hard when I have other shit I need to do.
still no inspection.
-
assigned adjuster has had 10 calls today, left VM 3x (yesterday just after he left, 9 this morning, 1300 this afternoon), never called back never answered. Also left him a message through the web form yesterday.
called general line and was told inspections are within 5 business days not one.
I have the adjuster's supervisor's name. I'm calling her so she can not call me back too. Need to decide what to say...
-
find the rents a sweet house with a barn yet?
they should check this one out
http://www.nothnagle.com/Properties/Details.aspx?MLS=19&M=R192525
-
went to sale pending. Not you I presume? I liked that one.
I'd love the 'rents to move into someplace that I'd appreciate inheriting and maybe being able to use some storage space of in the interim but I think they're really looking more at the condo type things where they don't have to do grass and leaves and snow and such.
The adjuster FINALLY called me back; he talked to the shop and they're writing the estimate. No independent adjuster is going to look at it. I hope it works out to my favor, could be interesting. I should probably give them a shout soon and see what they think about repair completion since we're over a day behind where we were hoping. $150 to change my flight to next week which seems pretty steep on a $500 round trip fare, but meh. Small potatoes I guess
-
not me, nice place, nice neighborhood, even a completely blocked off thick woods islanded buy the block,
but 100% usless to me regardless of the $
if the garage was deeper and taller i might have considered saying screw it and jump on it.
-
Current status is working towards not totaled, $5800 claim. Parts ordered, probably finish mid next week.
Haven't heard this from Gieco yet though; shop had talked to them this afternoon. Adjusterdude has 'till I'm bored tomorrow morning and start calling him. Shop is pushing on them too. Assholes.
-
Left 3 voicemails and umpteen missed calls Friday, got a call back a few minutes after their closing time settling the matter. Repairing; not totaled.
-
still waiting on intercooler & all fan stuff; Reese Titian Class V and alternator mount bracket didn't show up today like they were supposed to. Should be done Tuesday or Wednesady.
-
and the shop called ME to give me the update - I didn't have to call them. that's how customers are supposed to be treated! why is that so hard?
-
Meeting a Liberty Mutual dude on Wednesday to kick Geico out of my life forever ;D
-
All fixed, they put about 15 miles on it today and all is good; had to get one more new part: the fan cracked the big cast lower radiator nipple. Got their payment for the repair but not yet for the tow. Planning to hook it up to the trailer tomorrow and run around a bit to make sure all is right with the world, but I should be finally finishing this up this weekend!
-
thank god...
you dont know how much you miss the dumb buss till its no longer in your life..
-
Hahaha :)
-
Did your parents like that place in Newark?
-
Looking at it again today with a realtor who doesn't suck. First time the realtor was late; bitching about coming from Brighton (better: it was HER OWN LISTING); couldn't get the lock box open.
They looked at a condo in north gates yesterday that they loved.
-
i can give you another realtor...
they dont want to live closer to Rochester
-
*north Greece condo not Gates
I don't know if they even know what they really want. I sure don't know for sure what they want.
The Arcadia place has what looks like a nice shop. That could be worth a 45-50 minute drive and give me a good reason to see them.
-
Shiny.
-
you should have had them paint the whole thing...
looks GREAT
-
Looks
-
Have a few little things to take care of. Replace plug at the back of the truck, shim passenger door up one washer.
Really want to fix the doors and rockers and look for or build a bed now.
-
Real hitch.
Damn slow Internet in the middle Of WI. COULD WRITE A NIVEL HILE THIS FIRST PIC UPLOADS. Damnit caps. I'm not retyping that.
-
That is a sweet hitch! Just keep in mind that DOT does not like the emergency brake cable hooked onto the chains like that. They say it should be attached to the truck with it's own hook or what ever.
-
I need to make that change on both my breakaway cables. In the bed of the truck with the goose any hook lighter duty than those seems to get mangled. Need more HD stuff.
Parents had an offer accepted today. As long as the contingent offer doesn't shit out a pile of cash tomorrow and remove their contingency they've got a great price on a condo in north Greece about 3 blocks off the lake.
-
The Dumpbus looks like a whole new girl/ bus/ thing! Sweet.
That sweet looking trailer for sale?
-
Unknown. May be loaned or sold to my uncle. He's presently planning to "go RVing" and sell his condo. He may want to use that trailer to travel around the country and see his kids to deliver inheritance things. TBD
I might want to keep it for a buggy too? If it becomes available I'll certainly post in in places you'd see :)
-
K thanks
Looking to replace my old Construction trailer... RIP
Ny salt.
-
two items of epic stupidity
- I called the mooseknuckle adjuster at Geico (who picked up his phone - what, now that one check is cut you're not dodging me??) to check on the tow bill payment. He pulled up some stuff and said he was going to cut the check. If it was that easy whythefuck wasn't it already done?. Reasons I dropped them like a hot rock.
- The contingent offer on the condo that my parents are up against doesn't even know of their offer yet, because it isn't submitted until signed off on by a lawyer - said lawyer doesn't like one of the contract modifications of their initial offer having to do with disclosure of the HOA's finances, and the HOA hasn't answered that in a timely fashion. So it's gonna be early december by the time they know if they've got it or not.
-
HOA ohhhhhh man tell them have fun with that
-
Yea, f-that. HOA is a pain in the dick.
-
There's no such thing as a condo without an hoa. They want done with plowing and mowing and leaves and shit, so they're stuck with one. It is what it is.
-
I could never understand that argument that people who live in a apartment or even a townhouse and how they justify it by not having to do any work it is all taken care of for you. At a house you can pay one lawn guy to mow every week plow and everything and be all set and avoid the HOA bs. At least they are not renting thats for sure.
-
renting works great for me in my situation- yes there are hassles but i think the benefit way out-ways- for the time being
-

Condos have always confused me. I just don't get the concept. It's like owning an apartment but still kinda paying some rent.
Hoa dues here are only 210. Can you really get all outside crap taken care of for that price?
-

ignoring the shop landlady part, anyway

depends on who you hire and town code..
in Brighton... no...

Threw the new jack on the trailer today. Need to do something with the bottom plate. It got pretty jacked in the crash, so to speak.
Smike, does your welder reach outside? Probably be the easiest way. There's not good access to bolt a patch on place. Probably need to plasma cut the patch too. Just a 2.5"ish circle in a 4x6ish plate to support the bottom of the jack.
When the jack hit the bumper, it pushed the bottom of the jack forward and ripped the support plate pretty good.
-
have a 25' extension cord for the welder or plasma
-
Just got the phone call, and woke me up from a nap. They got the condo!!
-
whats a nap?
-
That thing I do when they watch football all day
-
first time I saw those wrecked pics. wow, glad all's well now.
What caused the hitch to fail like that?
-
overloaded. it was not rusted inside the tube.
trailer is 10700 on the axles and the tongue feels heavy, so it's probably 1500-1800 tongue weight. that was factory hitch, just plain not rated for that weight. If it follows standard Class IV ratings it was probably 5000/500 or 7000/700 static, 10000/1000 WD - and I wasn't running WD.
New Curt Class V is rated for 15000 static 16000 WD. But that will be coming off as soon as I get the hauler bed. That has a built-in 10k rated receiver.
-
I get the hauler bed. That has a built-in 10k rated receiver.
LIKE!
-
Pulled the trailer up to the condo today, they've got movers moving things in for them today.
Talked to Geico today, will be getting half the tow bill paid. They won't cover the trailer tow. Fuck them sideways with a rusty spoon, at least it's done.
Ticket call is early this afternoon.
-
They did not tow the truck with the trailer? When we hit the brake drums in the ford they towed the truck with the trailer still hooked up
-
Couldn't. Hitch broke.
I don't know if it would have been considered otherwise, but it would not have been possible anyway.
-
For what its worth they really shouldn't be towing a vehicle with a trailer attached to it still. Fairly confident that's not even legal aside from being bad practice.
And geico did pay for the tow for the covered vehicle did you have insurance on your trailer as well? It is a seperately registered item.
-
agreed
other than comp. Comp would have covered if that trailer slammed a gard rail or something
not sure on towing, i think i dont have those boxed checked on my policy
-
Trailer is empty and ready for an ATL turnaround this weekend. Need to get Was White out of it, and fix the running lights. May have a short - that contact on the pigtail is corroded and has gotten warm. Hope it can be a quick fix.
