i dont know why but i have been looking at boats, or more so outboard motors and such
might build something this winter.
its been 2 decades since i have owned a boat and im sure the laws and such have changed
-
Lol
I/o outdrive parts are gold apparently. Any $500 boat is probably a profit center if any parts are good.
We need licenses to drive boats now. I scored like 70 on a pretext without reviewing anything but I read a lot of boat stuff when I was a kid. Not bad.

there are so many good boats listed this week!
lol
-
so walking the plywood section of HD this week, last time i built boats you could get luan subflorring with sweet mahogny face on it for like 10$ a sheet.... its like 40$ a sheet now F me. not sure i could build what i want for less than a grand in wood and hardware / glue / glass. really tempting to pick up ashit box and slam an ls motor inboard in with a boat tune.
-
lumber prices make me want to puke
-
saw diesel was 4.99 in Leroy though tonight when i got off the thruway... hope?
-
One and only one station I see has dropped price. Jetta down to a quarter tank, time to start paying price attention
-
man this is the exact boat i was looking to build. 2k with a 70hp merc? if its not a scam thats a dam good deal

Mike are you going to get your boat going for this summer?
im actually looking to get a 4+ seater with gear going for this summer. my mom and aunt/uncle arent getting any younger and id like to make the treck to my childhood cottage up in canada again this summer with them.
def will need some early season shenanigan testing lol
-
“Hopefully” is the best I can do…

I bought this 1986 open bow in 2016 for $1000.
My boy wanted to try wakeboarding.
Added a wakeboard tower/rack and sun shade.
Repaired a soft spot in the floor and installed new carpet.
Rebuilt and reupholstered the seats.
New head gasket (reason they were selling)
Upgraded to electronic distributor.
Tuned the carb
New bellows (2022)
Figure I got <$2000 in it total.
It's dated, but is perfect for the amount of time we actually use it.
The boat is stored indoors whenever its not in the water.
I see sooo many boats sitting outside in the weather... Nothing kills them faster...

looks good!

Thats the absolute truth. Everyone is amazed how old our Honda jetskis (2005) are and they're mint. Always garaged. Zero sun fade or stains.
-
wow, nice collections of toys!
-
Those look well cared for.

Solid, and at these prices who cares if it’s a Bayliner

cool. i guess if im going to go IO i want something i have a chance of just bolting an LS to and ditching the POS thing it came with
i know there are seals and bellows and water pump crap that are probably shot meh
would really just rather an outboard motor setup that can be serviced or swapped as a unit i have never owned anything larger than a 25hp outboard though
-
and currently own an 18hp evenrude im sure would fire right up and might need a new impeler from sitting for 15 years in my moms basement. 1964 unit my grandfather bought new, was passed down to me. ran it for a few years on a fishing boat in my teens, and then ran on an 8' hydro in my 20s for a bit.
-
sent message to bayliner guy for ball size and availbility
-
never got a response, listed as sold now
-
this guy says asking 600 for a 60hp Merc that should run (plus a boat and trailer no papers)
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/888049602632965/
looks like a good swap or parts unit for this guy
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/544739660529179/
so many choices
asked if this guy was interested in a jeep or delivery sedan for trade negotiations lol
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1210945873179035/
i really would like a bigger heavier boat honestly so towing 4hrs with my mom/aunt/uncle is less of a dump truck ride in my 4500 lol
hopes to hit family cottage once this summer before everyone dies and its sold off havent been there in decades.

looks like minor and major rebuild kits are available and reasonable for berkley jet drives
150$ for and LS adaptor to 1350 spicer parts that bolt to drive input
seats? some wood and glass, mount work
i have that 5.3 big cam motor that would be fine and sound pretty nasty
lister says it does have a HIN plate, looks like its easy to get papers in NY for boat, trailer not so sure.
-
Jet boats seem like a good time. I’d rather have one that can bounce off rocks though. Props seem fine to me for clear water go-fast.
-
been crusing MP this week. looks like ill be heading up to family cottage in Canada for the 4th and it would be fun to throw a beater together.
looking for under 1000$ wet ha
-
love old school looking 70s boats, they fit the era of the lake we are on. fine with an outboard, if inboard, would prefer shaft drive for later LS swap ha
-
had fun reviving an old 60s merc 9.9 this weekend at the family cottage. my uncle couldnt believe what i came up with to break the flywheel free to get to the points. haha thing fired right up and ripped all weekend just like it was put away last season. hadnt run in 15+ years with a few others failed at revival over the years.
canada law is anything under 10hp doesnt need to be registered
this looks so fun

That’s awesome!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

15 in a 9.9 shell would do it for that boat haha probably be in the low to mid 30s with right prop and feel like 90mph

Dooooo iiiittttt

the 1958 Mark28 i picked up (22hp) i got to fire a couple nights ago after servicing the points.
water pump came in today.
i guess this automatic transmission outboard is a little different that most.
first step to changing the impeller is the remove the power head :o
-
picked up free set of Evenrude controlls that will work with my 1964 18hp. (forgot mine got sold with the hydros sadly)
-
not bad for free, cables all look good and work
-
International guy yesterday had a pile of outboard motors in front of the truck when i went to look at it. one caught my eye.
picked up a Merc KG7 for 60$. didnt look at it yet closely, felt locked up. missing prop but complete otherwise.
