Steering wheel re centered after weeks of being lazy.. Front pads replaced with OEM for colder weather.. Noticed lower control axle mounts bending.  See some new stocking stuffers

Installed rear storage for tools.. Noticed in tub where  body mounts bolt that on on the left side it caved up as if the body gave way alowing the mount.to suck up into the tub a little bit... Its odd on how this happened.. Any idea what may have caused this... Or if this will have any negative effect

any rust starting there? sounds like typical body mount failure when the tub gets soft - remember the back of Matt's YJ?

No pics I'll have to take one No rust.. Does not feel soft.  My tub is bed lined so hard to tell.. But it defenetly is a  failure.  I can see the bolt concave up in tub...

TJ frames are the weakest jeep frames ever to leave the factory...
they were NOT coated by DC in an effort to save $ per vehicle..
Auto Rust Tecnitans have made quite a nice name for themselves in the jeep aftermarket due to this...
SVE in CT does about 3 TJs a month and they don't use salt on the roads...
I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

This is a pic I found online.. This is a very extreme case... But this is what will happen if I let it go..  The bolt end is starting to push the tub up and has a small dent starting to form

I would guess?? But I don't understand how this would happen when it should be a solid mount.. At first I thought it was a shock mount when I discovered it thinking it was from pressure of flex/wheeling.. Like I said.. Its solid no evidence of rust underneath or in tub itself...?

How bad do your bushings look at the body mounts?

That's crazy!  That cross member is fairly stout.  Other parts of the frame will rust before that should give.

Check your rear body mounts as they do tend to have rust issues.  Check your rear bump stops to make sure that the shock isn't bottoming and bending that cross member.

I'd have to lay eyeballs on it to say more than that...
