How many miles?
You said it was running on 4 cylinders according to the injector line diagnosis method?
Did it get progressively worse or did it just run like shit one day?

Yeah 4 on the injector line diagnosis.

Bad time of year to have this happen. Looks like no camping or wheeling trips for a while.
The scratches aren't that bad... going to see if the rings are still sealed and it the bores are round. If they are, I may re ring it till to get me by till winter or just run it till I can pull it to rebuild.

Water in the cylinders? High EGTs? How many miles?

I wonder if the bad HG gave it a hot spot. Looks like that bad part lines up with where the gasket was holed?
If the early and late 12v pistons match I have good stock pistons from my first motor. I think the bowls are the same but it would deserve a minute of research.
Mild hone in that hole and fresh rings on a good piston could probably get her happy again for a decent amount of time with minimal downtime and expense.

Any of you guys have a service manual for a cummins? Looked on line and found nothing.
Specifically wear limits and max out of round for cylinders. Got a bore indictor and cylinders are .002" out of round. Want to double check size of bores before I just hone and rering that one cylinder.

My daughter picked the paint. I was worried it was going to be pink or purple. lol
Runs great. Smoother running, more power, and quieter. New injectors are great. Marine 370's....

Make for a nice upgrade. At least it should be GOOD for many many miles to come now.
