New project / old idea. Pop-up camper sideways on deck-over.
Wants list:
sleeping for two
Simple cooking
Ice box w/ drain
sink
Shower w/ warm water at least
Toilet
Ability to standup and get dressed (piss in the middle of the night without going outside)
Basic storage for camping stuff
Secured storage for shafts and parts
Heater
Low wind drag
lite weight
Awning
Not have to registar another trailer
Not have to keep putting cap on and off pickup (don't want it on for normal life stuff)
Cheap, already have a travel trailer for family don't need another one

I plan to do somthing similar in the near future, i keep going back and forth between a new enclosed gooseneck or a "Hill BillY Hauler" as they call them on pirate.
Spencer (TooJeeper or SlipkoTj) who was from the buffalo area moved to Colorado and purchased this set up which is perfect in my mind (for my needs), and is trying to sell it for 12k I believe.

I think it's a total waste to do that with a travel trailer and not a 5th wheel. Nice setup but so much wasted neck space!

is that the one the original owner towed with a supercharged tundra?
putting a pop up or pickup camper on an open deck I understand cause you can pull it off easily and use the trailer. But if your putting something permanent together why not just go enclosed?

there are a few reasons to go hillbilly hilton - keeps the RV half cleaner since it's not shared with garage space. easier to tie down. easier to wash the rig on the trailer. cost: an RV toybox can't carry anything but the smallest lightest crawlers, they're barely rated for a UTV because they're intended for a couple bikes or quads. To get an enclosed trailer HD enough for a fullsize rig you're talking either BUKU bucks for something like what Ryan had or outfitting it yourself.
If you want to haul a tall or wide rig you're limited again.
but you loose interior garage space for spares, fluids, etc...

Ww will see if I don't like it I am out $500. My choice would be a 30' goose with a truck camper on the frt. Too many toys to little coin to support them all correctly. My biggest concern is tongue weight and wind rocking the shit out of it when setup 3' higher in the air. I use the deck-over for everthing, my goal is 4-bolts and she lifts free w/ Gantry or backhoe, no other connections to trailer needed.

You'll want stabilizer jacks if your trailer only has a single front jack.
I'd secure it right at the stake pockets. I've thought about options for putting a truck camper on the front of mine. It's just not long enough to do that though so I keep coming back to thoughts of a pop up on top of the neck but a pop up just seems terrible in several ways.

Tested on trailer with plenty of room and good balance on tongue weight with the buggy back further.

made easy slide in lift points that keep the chains from banging up the camper sides.

Made new pockets for the bed supports. Ditched all the lights and reflector taped over the holes. Now it ready for shower install and water tank.

Specs said 940lbs. I probably removed 150 w/ bumper, tongue, axle and spare. Some of that weight will be offset by not having to run a cap any more on truck.

How long is your trailer? How much room left behind it?

18' deck plus 3' beaver. camper is 7' aprrox. wide which includes the stand-ups for the top (which are a pain, some pop-ups are internal support much better for this) My buggy has a 108" wheel base. When loaded I had approx. 6" in front and 12" in rear.

Final part of project quick build a purpose built trailer for cold storage post season. Fill it with dryer sheets, steel wool in the shower drain and put away.
