I have decided to sell all of my old equipment in CT and buy used or new "hobby" grade machines...
I finally have a nice heated room in my new garage that I can set up.. I don’t do half the stuff I use to so I don’t see the need for full on professional equipment.
basics are easy.. drill press, grinder, vise, press....
what other things am I missing?
I might enlist the help of M4 for a workbench/welding table for small projects.. (I have 400 amp service ;D)
feel free to post up craigslist links...
I do like older, antique machines.... I think they work better..

You got a press out in these parts for sale by any chance?
-
Once the basics are covered, you'll find out what you're missing as soon as you're working on something REALLY important and need it. Typically on Sunday night 5 minutes after the last store closes.

buy as you need is my policy. Right tool for the job is priceless i have learned quickly.
Good Vice and solid metal work table would be top on my list. 7gage is what i like for work surface.
i love my peg board over a rolling tool box. Lighting is also KEY. Dont forget a good first aid kit and a REAL fire ext.

Looks even larger when empty.
Congrats again.
I have one of these...
Shopvac Portable Aircleaner.
I bought mine from Woodcraft in Henrietta.
I bought it to help control airborne dust in my own house during my kitchen remodel. It works so nicely that im planning to buy more.
Very simple design and really isn't loud at all.
Perfect for mild grinding / sanding in a Jeep / Rover Shop!

lots of air?
you can get a lot of drill press on CL for 800$ and thats getting close to bridgeport territory
-
enough air for the amount of basting I would ever do..
I currently have a 20 Gal tank with a 2 cyl pump on it.. nice unit
I could easily upgrade to a stationary unit if it comes to that..
I realized that a Mill would have a damn hard time getting into my garage.. even a 300lb drill press will be interesting..
But im still looking… have my little table top unit for the time being… just looking at options..
-
i like my 1hp Delta press. i could use something a little bigger maybe 5% of the time
i paid 150$ for it on CL. it was a mint press only used for wood.
