I picked up a ugly pile of a 1985 Corvette. I am planning on using it for the 34 Roadster. Taking the front and rear suspensions out and transferring them to the 34 frame. Also using the engine and trans, 5.7 TPI L98 engine 700r4 trans.
I had an idea, since I already have the car and know people. If we can get 4 people together to do a Chump car or Lemons race we can use this car. I paid slightly more than $500 for it, but not that much more.
We could race prep it for $500ish to $700 per person I think. With spares and tires. Maybe less, not sure what the safety rules are.
Then race fees some already have driving suits and helmets.
Anyone seriously want to attempt and 8 hour or 24 hour race?

I would do it in a heart beat and I'm sure Chad would throw in just as quick
-
Alright. Maybe we can do thissssss
-
whats locaton of races?
-
Several closer than Rausch or similar. Closest being Watkins Glen.
-
Hell yes son.
Road racing???
Ill give it a shot.
-
Btw... how did you even get her on that trailer?
-
It drove on the trailer fine. The beaver tail helps a lot on that trailer.
5 hour round trip with the 10k trailer yesterday, I really like that trailer, but I dont need 2 of them. Someone should buy it.
-
What does it weigh?
-
only $500?
-
The rules for Chump car and Lemons are $500 on the car max, or get a penalty.
I paid more than $500
-
is that all there worth or did you get the typical rywan super deal? haha
-
take your knee to like 3 pannels and its worth 500$ then
-
What does it weigh?
Title says 3111
-
Heavy girl.
BTW
Are we rally crossing or straight up Tarmac?
-
I was on the Toyota Engineering 24 Lemons team when I co-oped there. They have a sweet MR2! Fun racing!

Did you drive the car? How were the rules? MR2 sounds like more than $500.
-
how do they enforce that? Need to show receipt?

-
That sounds like SO much fun.
-
sounds like fun! if there really are several races races within the Rausch distance that sounds like a no brainer. I thought there were only 1-2 in the northeast when I'd last looked
-
Whats the deal regarding titles?
-
The chump car series states fair market value of 500.00. Regardless of purchase price.
Way more difficult.
Official rules...
"If you cheat or screw-up or both... you'll be docked laps. If you come to Tech Inspection with a car that's worth $1,500... plan on starting the race about 100 laps down from everyone else. You can still run in the race and you'll have a great time... but you’ll never win. If that doesn't bother you, you're our kind of Chump!"
Lets go.

Lezzz do dis!!

I'm 100% in for doing this
-
I know every inch of every turn on every one of those tracks east of kentucky.
except for Charlotte.
Shannonville and VIR can run multiple configurations depending on the series.
Surprised they arent running midohio.
Looking at a car in buffalo now.
Lets do this.

Dont be a Debbie Downer! :P

A vette might not make a good race car, expensive parts and tires.
Maybe simethign like this would be better? http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/4112692896.html
-
I wonder how something like a xj would do if you lowered it and it had the 4L. Most of the people are racing pos cars so I don't think speed is something huge here
-
a 2wd MJ would have been a slick ride
-
there's a northeast rally team that runs 4x2 MJs. it could definitely be done.
-
A Cherokee would be great, 2wd if possible.
-
If you're getting into trucks just do line mountain...

This would be way better than line mountain
-
road racing doesnt do it for me- so much easier to get ahead of your self with speed over skill. Off road it takes a bunch more skill to go faster and faster and that slope of talent i think is much safer learning curve. jumping in a POS and doing 70 around hard things id probably pass on with out some major practice and development. thats just my thought, id be happy to help out and support though

Candy ass!!

I'd love to do this
-

-
DNF, sounds just like a race at Rausch. ;D
