Rumor has it finally dewalt has a new DCF900 high torque 20v impact coming out soon, i cant wait to hit buy it now on 2 new ones regardless of cost. Both my DCF899's (700fwd/1200rev ft lb rating) are showing wear and the 1,2 torque limit settings have failed- its full beans on any setting.
im also ready for more forward torque as some of the JK and JL crush sleeves take monster effort to get started.
-
If it's anything like the massive gains they're pulling with their yet to be released mid-torque, it'll be big. I'm team red and won't be switching because of batteries (and honestly, my M12 Stubby does 90% of what I need at work), but it does have me supper excited to see what TTI (Parent company of Milwaukee) responds with.

no 20v ratchets on the shelf either size in Henrietta
-
oh, i was mistaken- Henrietta Home Depot has a couple of both versions in stock. 1/2" or 3/8" version available for 200$ bare tool.
-
I wasted an hour at Victor home depot Monday this week. web site said 2 in stock, internal inventory said 3 in stock. 30m looking myself and then waiting for clown with key to show up after paging, 30 minutes digging and none found.
I'm going to stop in to see Jake V and see if he has any or can order. Fuck big box stores...
-
grabbed a 3/8" one from Henrietta today. its nice, good size. lots of power. fits great with the small batteries.
-
I got a pair of the new "powerstack" batteries last week in ratchet anticipation. they are rated at 1.7ah, are the thickness of the 2ah but narrower and lighter. they are lasting much longer than the 2ah in practice, and they are supposed to be "better" overall. amazon warehouse at $129 for the pair, dates on them are May of this year. still haven't gotten the tool lol.
I lost a 2ah somewhere, so I've got 1ea 2ah & 4ah, and a pair each 6ah and powerstack.
-
new 20v ratchet kicks ass, saved me 30min today with hand tools being shorter and lower profile than my Kobalt stuff.
rips through 1/2" top locks like nothing. Love it.
-
One of the powerstack batteries went bad. It would self discharge in 24-48 hours whether on a tool or not.
I bought on Amazon. They simply refunded purchase price since bad lithium batteries can’t be shipped.
So buy pairs of batteries, I guess. Slim chance you could end up with one free? As long as one goes bad inside a month.
Still didn’t get over to see Jake to see if they have the tool in stock.

So they're sticking with the more power same size formula. I can't wait till Torque Test Channel gets their hands on it. Fingers crossed it's as good as their new mid torque.
-
Jake was saying they have a smaller frame 1/4” impact that’s the same power as the ones we’ve been using. Doubt I’d upgrade to it but be nice for the next one. I’d take a smaller diameter over a shorter housing on the 1/4” drive personally. My most used power tool by far.
They’re coming out with a bigger chainsaw in the 60v too, and now have a 15ah 60v battery too. Thing is huge. I think he said the saw is supposed
To be like 4 horse and a 22” bar
-
Takes some getting used to for final torque feel without switching to another handheld 3/8 drive but I’m loving this tool. It’s strong!

take my money!
-
placed an 830$ order to ACME tools, see if they show up next week
ordered two DCf900s one bare and one kit with two 5ah batteries, charger, bag
-
fedex says tomorrow whoo
-
came in today. very happy with them. they rock. hoping the button vs switch lasts otherwise looks great.
-
two days in the shop, this new 900 rocks. acts like my 899 on level 2. its a beast.
ACME tools sent me a 10% coupon for another order, was all excited to grab some more, but them noticed it expired the day my first order was delivered. little shady!
-
My damn quarter drive impact just died. DCF887
The power level switch was acting up earlier today, all settings were 1. And now it’s just dead.
:(
-
Hmm, interesting. i own 3 of those and beat the snot out of them with no issues for like 8 years
my other one thats a 3/8" square drive with no speed selection, the rubber is shot and falling off but its still hitting great
-
I think it’s well past warranty if I could even figure out when I bought it. I’ll open it up next week and hope for an easy bad wire on that switch or the trigger.
No light coming on either. Same on a couple good batteries. A little rough treatment did nothing.

couple of my first 20v real dewalt batteries are finally biting the dust. been shopping around for options. lowes right now has buy two power max for 199 get a free tool (no ah rating on package?!) or they have their standard 20v battery 3pack of an 8ah, 4ah, 2ah for 199 which seems like a good deal for total power.
ended up grabbing 6 knock offs (6ah) on amazon for 21$ a piece. lol i have had a few of them and they are 80% of the dewalts in power and rating i believe. i just got two new 5ah real dewalts with my new 900 impacts so when doing crush sleeves i just use those. the knock offs should be fine for other tooling.
review to follow when they show up
