Trip update...
Arrived home last night at 1130pm
2700 miles total which include detours like running route 66 for a few hours and a quick sight seeing trip through the Petrified Forest National Park.
Truck portion of the RV worked flawless. Air brakes, 2 engine brake settings, air suspension and air seats are the highlights I'm not sure how I ever drove across the country as many times as i have without?
Only changes desired are...
Headlamp upgrade
Stabilize driving lights (bumper vibrates at speed)
Maybe upgrade the speakers in the cab, low volume = low quality
Exhaust Temp Gauge
More in cab storage
New satellite radio antenna
Aux jack extension
RV has some quirks. But nothing I didnt expect in a 7 year old machine.
Items to replace...
Screen door
Slide out canopies(dryrot)
Rear tires are original (steers) 1 has dryrot
House batteries are mismatched and not holding charge as long as required. Currently have 3. Space for 6.
Misc knob and latch adjustments.
Slide out rail and seal lubrication required.
Generator maintenance (oil change, fuel filter, glow plug, clean spark arrestor, air filter)
It's quieter than most I've heard.
Time for a new toilet as well. Getting some tank odor in the batbroom. Ball valve doesn't always close completely unless you slam it closed.
Funny... alot of the above items are the same items we just replaced or repaired in our 9 year old Gulfstream.
All in all, the new rv made for a so much more enjoyable trip. Previous trips to California and Utah have left me completely exhausted and beat up from driving so long.
Not now...
I'm ready to turn around and go back.
