over the last few weeks in the shop i have been picking at little things that are hosed from 2 years of racing this pile. its currently 10yr wreck wheel status, but soon ill have to make the decision to keep or not, regardless it will get race prepped.
-
... its currently 10yr wreck wheel status...
Explain please... couple different meanings come to mind.
-
in its current state, i could bolt the seats back in, and throw the tins on and wreck wheel it for 10 years
-
I'm with mark.. Still foggy on your meaning..
You mean recreationally wheel?
-
yes, smike doesn't care about spelling online, haha
-
wreck wheeling is a pun picked up from last minute motorsports (aka Miller)
-
I like and use the "wreck" wheeling phrase. Seems applicable to many of our rides. I love some of our puns. Just didn't know if you meant that it looks like it has been thrashed for 10 years or if it's ready to go for another 10. Or both.
Good to go.
-
I consider wreck wheeling to be a step or three above rec wheeling - which is a sunday family trail ride.
Like you Mark I didn't know if it meant past or future tense.
-
i supose you are correct. it looks like it has been wreck wheeled for 10 years, but it could be wreck wheeled another 10.
yes, wreck wheeling is a few steps higher than rec wheeling :)
-
in talks again for solid knuckles, copperhead sway bar, new wheels... bah
-
Front axle is on the welding table for some work...
-
This thread sucks!!!!
-
top side of all front link brackets got rebuilt and gusseted. started adding material back to the bottom of the diff... so glad i just pulled the axle....
-
Want to change springs while its apart?
-
do you have them in stock and what is that gona cost?
-
No stock, will have to order correct rates. Let me know what you want to run. I think its got 200/300 on it now.
-
The 2,5 coilovers are on schedule so far. Looking at getting them here first week in Feb.
-
In talks with Jamie at Method for some 17" beadlocks and their race team pricing....

-
I need 5 as well, so get a good price on enough for me too. ;D
-
they have a BJ Baldwin wheel lol
Hoping to get prices back today, i sent her a little blurb about race accomplishments and 2012 -2014 plans, with some pictures as she requested to eval if i fit in her program.
im guessing the will be spendy, 8x6.5 need to be machined custom from blanks.

Sick bro I'm glad I brought the company up! I hope things work out!

eh?
http://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/2841393692.html
worth anything?
-
Sounds like Rywan's same, right?
Ally head I that's the case, correct? Temperature discipline would take practice.
-
Mostly the same. I think it would be cable throttle and a little less HP
High miles. With trans maybe worth the $500
-
ha, i just realized the address of my shop is my car number
-
No way
-
it was just meant to be!!!

maybe
i just sold my spare set of sticky krts
-
Mike at DandD has been helping me out on things, and I help him when possible. I may be able to get a nice deal, tell me what you want and i will ask him a price.
-
need 5 monster locks for 8 lug chevy, id like the deeper back space of 5.5, but 100% sure he will say they cant get them and say they only have 4.5 with new arms i probably have to go that way anyway, and will just get a set of spacers to run the TSLs
-
Do I need the same backspace?
-
Looks like a 4" and 4.75" backspacing are listed in the catalog.
-
H2's are 5 5/8" so a 4.75 should work for you.
ill be driving over my trailer fenders, with 4" probably you will too
-
Ok, then 4.75 it is.
-
Looks like its time for a new shaft too.

Overdue.
-
highly overdue. on of the red climbs out of cemetery got me.
-
This should do it
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DOM-1026-Mild-Steel-Tubing-3-5-OD-375-Wall-21-Lg-/330537334781?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf58f77fd#ht_500wt_950
-
Wont something that heavy destroy your output and pinion shafts?
-
i dont think there will be any issues
-
Smike think about the spinning mass of that tubing, call OEM he got the right stuff in stock.
-
.250 is the thickest I'd go and really should be plenty.
I broke parts when I had a .180 wall shaft before I damaged the tubing.
-
at race speeds too thick of drive shaft will destroy the u-joints and pinion bearings.
-
im not really understanding the physics behind that, assuming the shaft is relatively balanced....
I can build it myself for less that what it costs me to drive out there twice in diesel and lost work time :/ i know he makes good stuff, its just really hard for me to make it happen.
-
Smike I think it has to do with centrifigual force. Force= mass * acceleration. nothing is ever perfectly balanced therefore what is out of balance should weigh the least possible. I am not pushing OEM, just made a suggestion.
-
It can't be half as bad as a square shaft
-
should be close enough

-
I still don't love 0.375" wall.... But overkill is the best kind of kill, right?
-
yes. Gona see if they have anything at SMC loose, if not just gona order that.
-
Only problem with beefing up the shaft that I see is that it moves your weak point somewhere else. Def will hold up better to being ground against rocks and whatnot though!
-
Only you jeep people need to build in weak points :P
-
rather have a weak point and know what it is than live and wonder how weak a vehicle I am driving
-
That's a glass half empty statement if I've ever heard one
-
;D
-
Pinion or output will snap. That's easy :)
-
no way a 14 bolt pinion is caring, you might round off the yoke ears on rocks but not much else. Never herd of a 205 failing in any way so im not worried.
i got 400lbs or so of steel, got some pieces of tube for driveshaft, but not sure ill use them, not a nice fit, a little loose.
-
solid knuckles, highsteer arms, caps in the mail....
-
Smile what you doing old knuckles I got a chevy frt 60 I might want to convert
-
I think these are going to stay with this axle for now, probably building a second housing...

so is that .375 wall?
-
they had a bunch of 3" something thick wall HREW at surplus in 30" drops. not as thick as i wanted but i made it work, and 100$ and a week shipping sounded like a hassel.
also found a 6' chunk of the 2.5" 095 wall that it was that i grabbed.
-
Hrew? We'll see... I'm not betting against this one though.
-
the last 095 shaft was HREW.... not like it matters when its that thick anyway
-
wheel spacers ordered again to fit TSL's with new knuckles... need to decided on wheels for the KRTs this year for racing.
-
4 TSL's slimed!
-
the TSL's are Full throttle mud bogging southern buggy air holding machines!
-
Old news except the air part. That's good new news.
-
i owe jeff some lumberjack repair time :o
-

They are impressive. I guess my Iroks are only good for the rocks now. You could see how much better Ryans new Iroks were working.
-
572 is a legend, how can a $100 motor turn 6,000 rpm for that long and never blow up.
-
i didnt look at the tac once ha
-
Udy once said his foot was faster then any rev limiter, that was 2-months before he blew up a $7,500 custom built 454 for one of his blazers. Love watching your buggy run wide open.
-
i honestly dont think you can hurt them for what i do it it. that motor is solid!
