man this was painful, almost off the lift haha
swapped on a spare CO, changed the springs and such into the back,
disconnected both rear calipers and bled out the master for front function. washed and cleaned, front skid wreck removed, need to start over on that one.
headlights
rear bushings
some wireing issues
-
want my other 2 KCs for head lights?
those rear bushings are the worst I've ever seen!
-
ill take a look if its electrical or not why the one doest work.
i should get a couple LED lights from Matt anyway.
-
572?
-
ha, opps ya 571, dam cars.
-
Ha, getting ahead of yourself there.
-
Haha I have glued both my fog lights back together. I should put an order in as well.
-
14.5 gallons last race used 50 miles
at least 3 laps in full low range winding motor out a little more than usual
-
how are my shocks coming along?
if they are whooped ill just take two new ones.
something is broke in my driver rear, its just slamming- its the gif shaft one and the lower seal is stripped out of the body, looks like oil is all gone too.
-
Got my shipment in on Friday, I will have them ready this week. They are whooped, but I can fix them up. Well, except for the dual rate stops, those are gone and the threads are whooped, at least on the one. I did not closely inspect the other.
-
are you coming to the meeting tuesday? bring two new ones for me? fix what you can later for spares?
-
I do not know for sure if I am coming. I will try. I will bring new ones for you if I can make it up.
-
I got one of yours apart and fixed, ran out of lock tite and shock oil, after the shock fell over and spilled oil all over my floor.
-
The other one is not coming apart very well.
-
i have a half gallon of king oil
-
on the lift, has new rear calipers and rear bushings. 4 links are tight, needs diff service, some rear brake lines run, and studs to mount up TLS's
-
tell me no! (30) 44" blems available....
BOG-45 NON HIGHWAY SERVICE BOGGER 18/44-16.5 30 $435.00
-
Does than mean stickies???
I think that means stickies.
-
i dont think so, i think that just means they are square
also trying to get a better price from lou on some 43's
-
rear calipers installed
new rear hardlines
brakes bled, still suck
front hubs serviced, decided on 4 longer wheel studs improperly pressed in, with 4 shorter studs on each side. wheel spacers and TSLs mounted.
need to replace rear coil over, tie up some lines, do some fluid changes, pack tools and swap to 42 spare
-
this thing amazes me, it will be tough to let go.
it just takes a beating, and my mercy ran out long ago.
-
She amazes me too!
That was alot of whoopass applied Sunday! And she didn't even hiccup!
-
i try to push 2x as hard wreck wheeling than racing. its the only way to finish races and learn your level.
The car has gotten about 2 days of prep in the last 6 wreck trips, and just keeps taking it.
-
pulled this guy apart tonight to replace the blown shaft...
front ring and pinion blown also!
b itch
-
i have 2 expired gift certs to this place for the club running adds on the site.
wonder if they would honor.

-
hmm summit has the item. i might call and see if they will honor there price match / beat policy. looks legit same item. but i know summit will ship it.

-
eh, all the parts i need were gathered tonight
she is going back to 4.10's for now.
-
4.10's in the front with new joints in shafts.
rear 4.10's is on the list for tomorrow with fluids and wrap up on both ends.
-
she is a fully 4.10 geared machine.
no ambition to wrap up.
debating to pull the 14 to the bench and add 1/2" to bottom thats GONE
-
Probably not a bad idea to plate a thin diff. Would suck to crack it, just as much as it'd suck to crack the front. Also just as annoying to fix :)
-
6 bolts and and crack a break line is all it takes right now.
i think it will get done.
im not worried about it cracking, just its wore 1/2 way though the bottom bolt threads.
-
Let's get this PIG done. RAUSCH IS CALLING!
-
14 bolt is pulled and on the bench, will finish adding back steel and try to get her back in tonight. Fluids and prepped tomorrow.
-
man, needs a 4th night. it is killing me
front shafts ujoints changed, spares prepped for both sides
front and rear 4.10 gear setups done
14 bolt pulled and plated and re installed
Front end assembled 100%
just need drive shafts put back in, fluids put in diffs, a brake line hooked up and bled, tins, under hood fluids, and tools packed.
maybe a wash or dirt scrap
-
loaded in trailer
feels like a tbi again with 4.10;s
sad face.
Lifetime LED light is sickk!
-
on the lift. MEh.
-
New 60 on. High steer arm bent!
-
done and back in the trailer. shitty brakes still. got some air out of the front driver that made it much better to typical 1.5 pump
-
What? You bent the solid High Steer arm?
-
ya, its got about 3/8" of an inch arc up in the center when you lay it on the bench. driver heim was all bent up too. i had to disassemble to get it bolted back up
-
Wow.
-

-
This guy jumps a lot better with a new knuckle.
snow banks are fun.
-
she is back to full duty.
turns Rs like a sunday drive.
-
Yes she does.
How much air u got in those Swampers? :o
-
i will check, im guessing im still around 10psi
huge difference even from what i did. sorry :o
need a real winch one of these days too.....
-
:)

I heard the PitBulls were unstoppable. ;D
-
Sweet Scout!!
-
The scout was impressive with a 408 built motor in it.
-
Sounds amazing.
I def have cylinder envy more now than ever. Thanks mike and Jim
-
erik, i might have a high miles 5.3 and 4l60e for sale soon :) would wake up that little green CJ :)
-
You have my attention. But im still in the fence.
I can drop an amc 360 in , bolt it to my tf999, and basically be up and running with only a custom exhaust being a major change. That and possible swapping back to gasoline.
Im looking at both Holley and FAST EFI systems for Wide band plug and play EFI
-
you got stop throwing jeep parts at that thing and start throwing chevy parts at it :)
-
Its never gonna be a racer... so why not?
Can't justify redesigning the Jeep, let alone the cooling, drive train mounts, drive shafts and new t case just to have chevy parts in a CJ7 based wheeler.
She goes and is fairly capable as is.
The original 1985 4.2 is just getting a little more tired.
Chevy drivetrain - new tube chassis.
-
my 258 would run sweet with LPG
-
Did you yank it out?
-
i still have all my 258 LP parts
sold all my V8 LP parts
-
looking for a reason to :)
-
We should discuss numbers.
Does it come with a NU Way Warranty?
-
how much evan williams would it take to put a 5.3 in a toyota? ;D
-
55 gallon drum will do it
-
shit that might be worth it. probably like $80 should cover that!
-
Lmao
-
you sir are incorrect!
-
got new GPS mounted for this weekend. Put it on drivers side so i can use it this weekend, not planning to have a passenger.
Cut out the double knot F stick put in my winch cable at Jeffs
Fixed an internal blown fuse that made my radio not work
dried out and cleaned drivers seat.
Hog needs a wash and tool prep. Also want to swap radiator fan polarity, and may swap to LOW speed- maybe even make it selectable some how.
-
who was the F-stick that put the knot in?
I never touched a winch cable all-day :)
-
orange big block man- was getting on my nerves even asking me if id like to winch again to save the motor. he apparently doesn't know me very well or my buggy that even after 3 asks would not be traded
-
who was the F-stick that put the knot in?
I never touched a winch cable all-day :)
Lol
I wasn't going to ask!
-
just hit up the king for a set of 90% KRTs
200$ to get a pallet to this side of the pond not bad.
-
I can get new for about $500 each shipped.
-
ok-
looks like 4 90% are on the way for 1000 total
-
stole them!
-
Good deal.
-
Thought you were not impressed with them?
-
there is nothing better the way i drive unfortunately.
i was not happy how fast they wear.
-

-
it sounds like the bigzj xtranormal cartoon lol
I want moon buggy so i can get all the chicks
-
ad says no junk :flipoff2:
-
22k is about my low end unless parts come off. 18.5k in parts nose to tail.
-
After 50 miles of sustained go fast, front shocks luke warm, rear shock so hot I couldnt touch the bodies or resiviors. Puzzled on that one. Wondering if nitrogen pressure needs to be checked more often, or rear air bumps are needed.
Brakes and steering still shitty
Gps is AWESOME again.
-
both o2 sensors smashed off
driver motor mount 80% material failure around welds.
skid vacated (not recovered from course)
rear pass shock needs looking at, ridding dirty
trans took 2.5 quarts after powerwashing to make truck move
motor took a quart of oil
2hours of power wash and she is ready for some lift time / wreck wheeling.
-
Was the fan on low?
-
forgot to check

so sick of this fucking thing i want to be racing my other car.
chassis is broke clear in half on both sides where the sub meets the main rails, looks like its been slamming for a wile with a good beat 1/16" gap
Fawk me.
I can see what Balduci brothers build millers sub out of 188 wall chromolly sleved over solid aluminum. redoncuoulus. meh
motor mount area cut out and replaced, masive steel and 3/8"s gussets inplace on drivers side.
-
Are you planning on pre-running on Friday?
-
Are you going to race it?
-
Time for a full tear down and rebuild?
-
not happy about a couple loose ears / caps on the front end so that has to come all apart. going to see if i can source some spicer joints today to have, and piece together some good shafts or put the RCV's in
fix front axle shaft situation
fix frame, gusset failure
make skid
put a new O2 on
prep the rest of the car
-
i'm planning to stop by m4 after work. i can help if you give me a project
-
If you need anything from Vics, I can grab it and bring it up.
I have time to run around this afternoon if you need anything picked up.
-
that would be awesome. i need (2) SPL55-3X Spicer Dana 60 Non Greasable Axle Shaft U Joint 1480 5-806X
F81Z3249AA, SPL553X, 5-806X, 5806X, 5-732X, 5732X,
-
I'll be over tonight after work to help out.
I would tomorrow too but I hear a rumor that you'll be out of town? Have to see where things stand tonight and if there are any projects left to work on, trailer stuff maybe?
-
probably gona run to buffalo wednesday night to see mom quick. ill be back around 8 or so
-

Thats a lot of part numbers.
Heading to Vics now, you just need the 2 joints? I have a set of full circle clips if you would like to use them.
-
Actually get three, I have a delco to swap out. Should be like 35$ or so each I think
-
$50 each :o
-
I guess they're getting expensive? I couldn't find them on RA, but $39 from JBG
http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-11793N-dana-60-spicer-1480-series-axle-u-joint.html
-
50$ seems a little marked up lol but sure
-
next time ill have them overnighted from drivetrain america that has 32 in stock
hoping for no next time!
-
amen
-
We talked a bit about your axles' breaking 5.38 and now running the 4.10
Here the link to how to put Dana 70 gears in your Dana 60 housing. Goes by "Jana 76"

I have no ideas on why the brakes are shitty. That sucks. My only thought is that it may be related to actually having flow to the rear. The crushed SS line may have been acting like a residual valve?
Tapatalking in traffic
-
speaking of the crushed SS line- that got replaced with a rubber line. i was thinking this system has 8 rubber flex lines.... maybe too much for the displacement of the MC?
thats what it feels light to me- just not enough stroke to make pressure.
-
There is no residual valve?
-
never, not on anything i have ever owned or worked on.
-
i have a corvette 1 1/8 bore MC
Going to try to get Dorman M39324 which is chevy 1.25" bore
or M390530 which is ford 1.375" bore
-
Seems reasonable.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
found cardone 10-1584 with a 1.330 bore for 24$ at advance
gona try it.
-
thing is large lol. no idea if it will fit under the hood haha. looks like same hydralic outs.
Also just thought of something, i wonder if that line lock is F'd up. it hasent worked in a while. I think thats going to get take out also.
-
hood there doesn't seem important ;D
I don't think those symptoms could result from a fubar line lock but it really isn't doing much these days so fuckit
-
Sorry I meant proportioning valve
-
and my same answer- proportioning valves are a myth in a 4wd locked truck.
want brakes and all the brakes i can get from any corner. never run proportioning valves.
-
and my same answer- proportioning valves are a myth in a 4wd locked truck.

I could see your point if you where running all the same caliper on all four corners but with a proportioning valve could you use that to "set or plant" the front end in a corner better since they are 70 front / 30 back bias?
-
front and back are locked together. No differentiation aside from driveline slop of well less than half a tire rotation.
-
its more like 5% of a tire rotation. watching all 4 tires lock in a controlled slimmy creek slide shows this :)
-
I knew I was being super generous from what I see the Dakota do
-
test run last night in lot- included some three wheel action turning around with sticky tires :)
-
how is the DE Cylinder? does it steer any better? worth the $$?
-
new MC in. id say 3x improvement in brakes. i cant push hard enough on the petal. i like it. needs a booster next if more is wanted.
awesome.
DE ram is sweet. its odly smooth and tight like something is wrong lol 4 wheel locked and pulling wheels with sticky tires on pavement and it feels tight and smooth.
if we wreck saturday it will be hard and my fault.
-
did you get a new PS pump? or is this still the factory GM P-pump?
-
factory whatever on the 5.3
i am 3 turns lock to lock now.
-
Karl knack informed me the reason that my KRTs seem to chunk down to cords is because all red label BFG tires are recaps. you can see on all my tires where the mold meets the carcus. after 8 full throttle assults on devils den prerunning, i have about a 10" section pealed off on one.
both rear CO's showed no dampening and blown out after prerunning. all shocks so hot you could not touch. we changed the worse one with my spare friday night, along with swaping out the tire.
race day cost us the other side in the rear CO from slaming up travel. and the tranny wont hold fluid, killed it self. brown toast, she is done.
brakes and steering were awesome. rest of the car was shit from mile one. needs a suspention upgrade and limit straps. the trans needs to be pulled and the trans mount / Tcase mounts need to be allinged / repaired to help life of tail seals.
fuck this car.
-
Don't know why I didn't think of this before but some fault may lie in the single ujoint configuration. That counts on absolutely perfect alignment for all seals and bearings to live long happy lives.
I only mention since both new cars are getting the same layout.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
its the trans mount that is f'd up, which comes from failing motor mounts. im sure everything is out of wack and the seals and inputs/outputs are beat to shit.
needs a full floor tear out while motor / trans is out
-
http://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/4170267721.html
-
new trans ready. 2 new shocks in boxes ready.
Lets do this one more time....
Anyone want a buggy at reduced cost before it gets fully prepped?
-
I will give you $200 for the buggy and shovel!!
-
rear shocks pulled. 5 brokens to make 2 good ones for Jeff.
-
Vroom vroom tonight for first time since August!
-
new trans in back of ZJ
-
did some procrastination on this last night, stripped all tins, pulled the battery. Was whipped from playing truck / trailer / buggy shuffle in the lot
-
Motor pulled
-
Two hours powerwashing. Roller thats sparkly newish clean!
-
Wire wheeled, welds inspected, chassis painted hammared black, new rear shocks in.
Couple snags with trans. Managed to snap trans temp sensor and need a different filter for dedp pan extension.
-
Did I miss.. Is this sold or?
-
will be up for sale. race prepping and cleaning it up.
-
i have wasted 3 fucking hours trying to find an application lookup for a TF727 or 904 transmission filter to see if stupid stores have one
ridiculous
-
727 is in a million things (roughly 1968?-1988 smallblock anything, from there to 96 is A518 same case w OD tail housing. 84 ram charger 360 is a guaranteed good lookup) and I probably have a filter in the shelf - but wtf are you looking at mopar tranny stuff for?
Tapatalk (http://tapatalk.com/m?id=1)ing in traffic
-
B&M deep pan uses a mopar filter. The filters changed over the years when the eliminsted drain plugs after justifying longef fluid changes. I figured it out and got one close enough. What a cluster at the shit box counter.
-
Slight panic when fluid was dumping out of new trans. A phone call later i was able to swap out a rolled oring behind a snapring with out pulling trans. I think i would have rather set it on fire.
-
eew, sounds shitty.
price just went up more, huh?
-
Incomplete thought- rather set it on fire than pull the trans out. Lucky it was an easy fix
-
cranked and warmed up tonight.
looks like removing radio draw keeps the yellow top happy.
-
need a nice day to take some for sale pictures!
-
SOLD.
::)
