Post by: gif on June 14, 2012, 03:11:30 PM: So the rear ramp door was hacked and it never would hold buggy weight. Not sure why/how you can have 10k of load and not be able to drive/load it on the ramp.?..

So I reworked the rear door and changed it to swing doors. This allows the doors to swing all the way back.

Post by: gif on June 14, 2012, 04:09:45 PM: Next, some drive over fender ramps. I wanted them to be removable. They needed to be strong but light enough to move around. I made these to bolt in/out. They are 11' long and 9.25" wide.

It was at one point. I cut out 460lbs of .25" plate that was welded to the walls and used as mounts for the stalls

I already coated the roof with elastomeric roof coating. So it stays as is.

yes, yes I did. First time loading a vehicle into an enclosed trailer. I was worried about hitting the blind side wall. I think I need air strip landing lights. :)

I think most people dont, because you cant feel it in the tow vehicle.

However, I think its a good idea for trailer bearing/tire life.

tip over and oxygen sensor. i have used it in and XJ and slept fine with windows cracked. runs 120hrs on low with a 20lb 2 weekends of wheeling on med easy with a 20lb.

Post by: gif on February 13, 2015, 10:08:45 PM: I added a safety interlock to the instant hot water shower system.

This heater has such a huge delta T, it is possible to reach dangerous water temps almost instantly. And because my kids will be using this shower I wanted a very high safety factor.

Using a Watlow 96, I measure the output temp of the shower water and if the Temp exceeds 125 deg F (adjustable) the water pump is shut off.
Once the water temp returns to an acceptable level a manual reset can be allowed to restart the pump.

The Water heater has its own safety that shuts the propane gas feed off if no water flow is present. Once water flow is reestablished the heater self ignites and hot water is produced.

This is a LG 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner unit.
It just needed a small hole in the floor.

Testing yielded 72 inside @ 88 outside. Results will be better when the curtain is closed.

The floor is wet because I did not have the condensate line run yet.

how did price compare to a window/wall unit? I think I was seeing higher prices - but the install is certainly easier with a portable unit than a window mount.

condensate line runs out the shower drain.

1) ease of install
2) can be used in other applications
3) it was free ( in-laws never used it , still had shipping plugs in)

yup

it will run off the trailer power inverter, but the truck would need to idle. at that load (1152 watts) the trailer battery would be dead in no time.

STAAB is saying my name is attached to another plate. I guess they dont understand that more than one person can have the same name... Time frame would have been 2012-2017

I now need a letter from the STAAB agency/ Maine DMV stating that my old trailer plate was surrendered 4 years ago. Why? Because the toll cameras miss read a D as a 0 with all other digits matching one of my old Maine plates. The toll system does a lookup in ALL the DMV databases and forwards the toll. With these new fully automated toll systems I recommend saving all your surrendered plate receipts and keep note of all plates you have ever had in your name.
