Matt and I are planning a sizable tire expenditure for the rest of the season / KOH 2015
Looking at Nitos
KR2
KRT
really im stuck on stick with the KRT's or go KR2. they have a little more trophie truck built into them, not sure the rock crawling is there.
about the same cost.
-
My Toyos are sad they didn't make the list.
Nittos all the way if the Toyos are off the table. No debate IMO.
-
Here is a link to see the difference. Side lugs on the KR2 are supposed to help with steering..

Falken?
They are promoting ultra 4 pretty hard!
-
I want KR2s
-
ya they look good. not sure i should stick with KRT's though. KR2 look even more useless for east coast wetness
calling arie :)

Kentucky tires :)

KR2 look even more useless for east coast wetness
o_O
they look like twice the tire and actually have some sidewall tread...

X2 lol
KRTs are not an east coast tire lol. Gotta look at carcass and plys in KR2 vs KRT.
Smike I've been thinking..., I'd buy tire balls and run old KRTs before I bought new tires to run without tire balls.....

with the price of tire balls, I'd buy innerairlocks before I bought tire balls. Running those at 40PSI ought to prevent pinch flats and most of the rim damage you and I have been seeing as well.
I have not picked up the phone to talk to them yet but no reply to my E-inquiry

Lady who answered phone at 1800RACEBFG was no help explaining key differences between KR2 and KRT..., engineering is supposed to call me back....

Tire balls or inner air lock..., I think smike should have some sort of run flat capability when out at the hammers especially with no on board spare...

Tom wayes ran 24miles on a method wheel. I figure i can run 40 on a kmc :)

Just better hope you're in the desert like he was and not in the hammer trails when it happens! Makes less work for use remote pit guys who will have to manhandle a mangled wheel off of bent studs and replace hubs....

im not at all interested in inner air locks
-
Not that it matters much but nitto = toyo. Same parent company.
-
Why not maxxis?

I have been converted to the Nitto tires, For wear and traction in dirt.
-
love my nittos
-
ya, Nittos will be ordered. Probably early next year. no hurry now.
-
discount tire is now 434 a tire shipped showing none in stock anywere. discount ends 9/20
-
Funny, this thread is the 6th hit on google for a no-quotes search on "u4 inner air lock"
with no other useful results at all.
-
yes we are at that level.
why i have given up on searching for answers 95% of the time.

a quick search on alibaba and amazon for farm truck solutions got me 2 things: a cheap source and bad news
cheap source (among many others, but lowest min qty): http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Custom-Rubber-Playground-Ball-Kickball-of_797648507.html
bad news: .5-1psi rating on a name-brand unit. I don't think that's gonna cut it to help anything. http://www.amazon.com/Voit-Playground-Balls-Red-5-Inch/dp/B001G1LIJY/ref=sr_1_13?s=sports-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1437434235&sr=1-13&keywords=kickball
-
you dont want the textured ones
need to put slime in the tire so they slip around and dont make heat.
PSI rating is meaningless the way they will be used...
-
makes sense. smooth options didn't seem common. maybe different searches would be more fruitful.
I just decided to order the inners. if we don't find another good option before I'm swapping tires I'll run 'em and see what difference they make.
-
boo.

I have a person in China that takes care of my shipping and receives things to ship to me. Whatever you guys want we can get coming. She talks to the factories to get the best prices and takes care of the details.
alibaba.com is the best place to find things.
Will rubber playground balls hold up to the demands of racing on a flat?
-
Probably not. We need to find the most HD smooth rubber anythings that we can.

What about IV bags? Similar shape to Tire balls
-
interesting idea cora but im sure not rated for any pressure and medical = 100X cost
forgot to mention ATV guys use the walmart balls thats where i got the info from. but they do run in the 3-5 PSI tire range

Tire Boobs 8)
-
too heavy
walmart kick balls are the only way to go at less than a 1$ each from distributor
or from the pirate, after reading 20 lame threads about bs search fucker
This stuff is old as shit.
Where I come from, smugglers filled their armored 4x4 tires with 15/20 bicycle tubes. When the cops shot at the tires the bullet would kill just a few, the other tubes would keep the tire from collapsing.

I could see innertubes working

Tire Boobs 8)
I could totally market that!
-
if someone gets a design I'm sure Ryan can find a cheap manufacturer.
And it shouldn't be too hard to get someone to draw a boob shaped bag in cad.
Just out of curiosity, doesn't anyone use a mid-density foam for this? seems that it would be better than pneumatics. I'm not an expert by any stretch, but it would seem that a little goop to adhere foam to rim or tire would prevent most of the tire ball throwing issues. And I'd think the foam would last a bit longer as it wouldn't really care about punctures. Moisture could be an issue though...
-
heat / abraision / wear with foam.
ATV guys tried Pool noodles, dust in miles on flat.
weight of a foam that can support 25psi is also way to heavy
